Nothing is official yet, but I have been working with my local card store on running Legacy tournaments and this is what I got.

IMO, Shouldn't you wait to post this when it is official?

technogeek5000
06-23-2008, 10:43 AM
I wanted to see how much interest there was in this. Ill have the whole thing finalized today or tommorow.

Is the 500 Cash guaranteed regardless of attendance? If this is not the case, what attendance number is that prize structure based upon. If guaranteed, I'll definitely try to get TPS down there in some force. Regular CT Legacy is definitely something I would look to support.

technogeek5000
06-26-2008, 09:47 PM
So the tournament is official... but it got Moved back 2 weeks. So the official date is August 9th. Could the mods please change this

So everybody please. If your going to make any tournament, please this one because the store owner seems to like the idea of Regular legacy tournaments and a CT Legacy scene is obviously needed.

I intend on making this... A few questions though. Does the store sell single cards or purchase them? Is it air conditioned? How many people can it comfortably seat?

technogeek5000
07-16-2008, 05:29 PM
The Store sells and buys singles (doesnt buy everything but will give you a fair price).

Yes

The store can comfortably hold 35-40 and can make room for 50 if need be.

Also, this store is located on the Main rode right next to a large mall (a plethora of resteraunts (I recommend 5 guys and On the border down the street) a movie theaters in the mall, etc..) so their is plenty to do when you arent playing magical cards.

awesome... anyone from Bristol area need a ride? Im definitely making it

technogeek5000
07-22-2008, 04:10 PM
Well, 1-2 people I know are making their first Legacy appearance here.

Anyways who else is going, several locals who arent here said theyd go but besides that Im predicting a 20+ turnout at the current level of people who have replied.

How do Prizes scale with entrance #'s? This is very important imo.

technogeek5000
07-24-2008, 06:10 PM
Not exactly sure about that. If we clear our target attendance then their will definately be a increase in prize. Im just not sure how much exactly it will be.

Also, on MTGsalvation

my team and i are coming from new york. bringing anywhere from 6-10 people

Looking to be a fun event.

Barring some catastrophe, TPS should be there with something like 4-8 people. We should all aim to foster a burgeoning CT Legacy community as we've seen in Syracuse and Hadley so everyone who can, come out to this.

technogeek5000
08-05-2008, 04:27 PM
well, absolutely 3 are coming from shelton. The 4th wants to go, im just trying to teach him his deck and format this week before Saturday.

33 people

top 8 was
RGw Aggro loam (me) vs. UGR Thrash
Enchantress vs. Aluren (I think)
Survival vs. Landstill
Painter vs. Goblins (1 was goblins or painter(forget which))

Top 4 (still playing it out when I left)
Thrash
Aluren
Blank
UB Painter

I got seroiusly fucking topdecked on by Rich Meyst's thrash. He counters the first 9 spells I play, bolts my crusher, I dreams away his board only for him to topdeck fucking tormods crypt (I just needed one turn with him having no board for a terravore/wasteland), then 2 turns later he topdecks the last colored source left in his deck and topdecks 2 nimble mongeese in a row FTW(could have raced one). Whatever, I ripped a mutavault in a pack though so I was up 25 for the day. Gonna type up a report in the Aggro loam thread in a bit.

Ray (Enchantress) was playing against Chapin Style Aluren, Imperial Recruiters and all, not Landstill. The mystery quarterfinal matchup was UB Painter versus Goblins, which Painter won.

Can't wait to see the Enchantress list.

KillemallCFH
08-09-2008, 11:19 PM
It was weird. It played blue and that random US enchantment thats something along the lines of "Beginning of upkeep, put a counter on it. Sac to counter target spell unless its controller pays 1 for each counter on it."

Anyways, I scrubbed out with 4c Landstill, going 2-3-1. I started off great at 2-0-1, but then lost to Aggro Loam (shitty matchup), Imperial Aluren (he got God draws, e.g. turn 2 Aluren+Recruiter w/ Force backup; game 2 I just fucked up mostly due to inexperience with the deck), and some odd Uw Control featuring Parallax Tide + Stifle and only played Exalted Angel as a wincon, as far as I could tell.

SB: 2 [DS] Pulse of the Fields - worthless??

Round 1:
Bye

Round 2: Extremely nice guy who's name I forgot. Sorry.
Ichroid 2-1 Unmask and Cabal Therapy :-(
Game 1: I offer to go straight to boarding because we chatted about our decks during deck registration, so we knew what each other were playing.
Game 2: Tormod's Crypt + Wasteland puts him at 0 cards in the yard and 0 cards in hand early on.
Game 3: He gets rough dredges. I get lucky.

Round 3: Ray
Enchantress 0-2 I think he played a single thoughtseize :-(
Game 1: I got roflcoptered. I couldn't buy an answer to anything he played.
Game 2: He played choke and I proceed to scoop it up. At one point, I named oblivion ring with my meddling mage and proceeded to watch him combo off with no resistance from me.

Round 4: Jeremy
Ichorid 2-0 Cabal Therapy :-(
Game 1: I get a lucky propagana down turn 3 on the play. I follow with another a few turns later.
Game 2: He has the nut sauce opener which gets crypted away with my enlightened tutor toolbox. It goes to him having zero cards in his library.

Round 5:
Extended Legal The Rock 2-0 Duress and Gerard's Verdict :-(
Game 1, He kills himself with his shock and pain lands with dark confidant. I am able to keep him off white mana with wastelands.
Game 2, Humility + Propaganda + Crucible of Worlds + Wasteland is a broken board position.

Round 6: Mike (Matt) McNally
Draw

T8 vs. Justin Brienner
Survival 0-2 Thoughtseize and Cabal Therapy :-(
Congrats
Game 1: Survival reminds me of Oath in Vintage. It resolves and you win.
Game 2: I get turn 1 pithing needle on survival. 2 crypts and 2 engineered explosives. I get recurring engineered explosives and keep blowing up his board but I lose to squee and a viridian zealot.
-------------------------
Slops:
Fighting discard all day.
Naming o-ring with my mage.
Boarding out Decree of Justice every game.
Waiting 25 minutes at burger king to find out when I get home that the order was incorrect.

Props:
Enlightened Tutor being amazing.
Boarding in 8-9 cards in every game.
Hoofprints of the Stag being good enough to win games.
Getting Imperial Recruiters.
<3 Andy - I hope I made my home turf proud.

It was a great event. I played Nightmare's EPIC Painter list to a really weird top 3 split. Congrats to the top 8. Props to Andy for throwing a good tourney, and props to Nightmare for his rediculous deck.

@Rockout: I was the ichorid player you faced in round 2. Glad to see you made it further than I did. Note-game 3 you played propaganda which hosed me good since I had coliseum x2. Nice matches though. I did however lose to my own deck all day. I had incredibly poor dredges several times. The luck of the dredge was just not with me I suppose :frown:
