Hello,
Last night, i was looking for a card when I came across an old deck of mine. It was a Merfolk Orbosition (aka Staylefish) deck. It was extended-legal before Odyssey block rotated out.
I remember having such fun with the deck and the deck itself was decent enough to compete (i came top8 with it before Odyssey block rotated out)
Anyways, Im looking for help to update it and see if it could be viable as a form of a Legacy Control deck.
heres the decklist:
Staylefish.dec
Lands:
12x Snow-Covered Island - its a frozen island
4x Mouth of Ronom - my only means of creature removal
4x Wanderwine Hub - my dual land
2x Boreal Shelf - my frozen dual land
Creatures:
4x Grimoire Thief - really good with control
4x Stonybrook Schoolmaster - tap to make more merfolks/wizards
3x Cursecatcher - force spike on a stick
3x Fallowsage - tap for card advantage
2x Puresight Merrow - tap and untap
2x Patron Wizard - most of these dudes are wizards anyways
2x Surgespanner - tap for boomerang
Support and Engine:
4x Mana Leak - counterspell from 8th ed.
4x Ponder - card advantage
4x Opposition - namesake of the deck
3x Merrow Commerce - untaps all merfolks
3x Static Orb - synergy with opposition
My buddy told me to get rid of Mouth of Ronom and replace it with Rishadan Port. Also, I'm thinking that the deck needs more FoWs.
I never really got the chance to playtest with Wake Thrasher with this deck but it looks like it could really shine in this deck.
