So yeah, long time, no report... The last couple of months have been quite tumultuously for me: Finishing my studies, getting a job, finding a new apartment. Needles to say, my nerdy hobbies fell a bit short and on the few occasions I got to play with magical cards I performed less than stellar. But hey, I know my responsibility to the card slinging, web surfing and awesomeness seeking community, so I got my shit together and started to be awesome instead. Well, almost that is. And yes, that's very subtle foreshadowing. God, how you must have missed my narrative supremacy...
Anyway, enough with the foreplay and on with the penetration.
We, meaning MSC, Heiler and me, met at my (old) place to build our decks and “playtest”. Now we all know “playtesting” is a popular euphemism for seeing each other naked trashtalking, beer drinking and watching the OSL finals VODs. Good times fore sure!
Next morning arrives way too soon, as it usually does and my head gently reminds me, hat the last beer must have been foul. Ah, the well-known throbbing in the back and the sharp stichs in the front... quite a usual/promising start into a day of Legacy. We collect Harald and head for Hanau. 91 nerds had nothing better to do on a very sunny sunday and so we're in for seven rounds with cut to top8.
Here's what the team brought to battle:

Manuel “DerHeiler” Heiler: UGWb Aggro Control
Martin “MSC” Schreiber: BGUw “Rock”
Harald “Locutus” Herrlich: ANT
Daniel “Adan” Scherer: Tempo Thresh
Stefan "spirit of the wretch" Czolk: GW Survival

I Decided to build the GW Survival deck that has been quite successful in the hands of Sven and Christopher

Honor who honor is due to:
Arne “Tao” Fricke for creating this incredibly strong and fun deck.
Cristopher “venice” Wilhelm for tuning it and sharing his list and insights with me.
Very much appreciated!

Get ready for the epic story of victory, drama, disappointment and … well … beer.
I didn't take any notes so everything I write here might be pure imagination, but hey, it's all about a good story isn't it?

[B]Round 1 UW Tempo
[U]Game 1: The first game drags along for ages. And I mean literally you could watch continents move, mountains erode and cities fall while we battle it out. And we do so in the most unimpressive fashion imaginable: He draws blanks (yeah, there are a lot of them in the deck I know... bring on the flames!), I can't find a Survival, we both have multiple Mothers which make the combo... well let's stick with confusing, there might be children reading this. In the end I manage to grind out a win with Mothers against his mono-colored army.

Game 2: We have like 10 minutes left on the clock as the second game starts and he makes use of them quite effectively: Mother into Mother into Stoneforge Mystic into Jitte... Yeah nice one, dude! I have a Survival and try to brain me out of this mess but the last beer keeps nagging. Screw you last beer! Long story short: He shows me a Force for my Finks and kills me exactely in the last turn.

0/0/1

What an … unfortunate start into the tournament.

Round 2 GRW Aggro Loam
Game 1: Loam + Seismic Assault vs no Survival …

Game 2: Seismic Assault + Goyf vs mulligan to 5 and no Survival

0/1/1

What the flying f**k?!? This is not how this was supposed to happen! Not by a large margin. The rest of the team is 2/0/0 and I'm pretty displeased bloodboilingly mad. In times like this I like to listen to my head for advice. Sadly my head only uttered slim feelings of pain. Luckily that can be helped by a magic brew: Time to hit the beer again! Now it's balls to the wall for the next five rounds.

Round 3 Tempo Thresh
Honestly, I know I played that match and I know it didn't take long and I know I won 2:0 but what the hell happened exactly, I can't tell you if my life depended on it. Blame it on the booze, blame it on my lack of motivation or that damn last beer that was still haunting through my head. The opponent was very nice and I won. That has to do it.

1/1/1

Superstitious person that I am I down another beer before this round for good fortune. And fun. Hell, beer IS fun!

Round 4 Trisomy 21
Game 1: He tries to screw with my mana like a madman and I screw him. The hard way! Sinkholes and Wastelands aren't too hot when you're facing a well-sized Lhurgoyf/Ouphe army! Writing this sentence I realize how completely ridiculous creature types have become. This army does sound about as scary as a horde of angry Oompa Loompas...

Game 2: I draw a total of 4 spells, non of which is an enchantment, and you know what? That is freaking busted against his deck! He can't mana screw me and so I beat him to death with Hierarch, Gaddok (which I wisely didn't board out in my infinite foresight) and Witness. Kind of pathetic but hey, I'll take it!

2/1/1

And the stream of lucky beers continues.

Round 5 GW Survival
Game 1: He starts with Mother, I sword. He calmly plays another one. Yeah, frigging great! We both play our guys but mine are Goyf and Knight while his are more of the Pridemage and Finks kind. He doubleblocks my 2/3 Goyf with Mother and the cat and activates the Mother on herself so that my Sword can wreck complete havoc. Dammit, I'm such a tactical mastermind! It just goes shitwards for him afterwards and I own him good.

Game 2: He immediately keeps and consequently leads with Hierarch into Survival. I have quite the decent counter with Hierarch into Pridemage. He plays a couple of cats himself and I exhaust them with Jitte and Survival. I however do play a witness and when I recast the pesky enchantment there's pretty much nothing he can do. Especially after I summon the devastating angel. He doesn't concede though, probably because he enjoys playinf such a brilliant strategist, but in the end succumbs to my awesomeness.

3/1/1

Only two more rounds... For Rohan!
After winning three rounds straight I cleverly deduce a pattern and … well yeah more beer! Seems like my studies did pay off after all.

Round 6 Uwg Landstill
Game 1: There's 99 bottles of beer on the wall, there's 99 bottles of beer!
I start with a first turn Mother that resolves. Awesome! Then I play a Hierarch and start a pathetic excuse for a beatdown. He play lands. The next move in this thrillingly action packed game is me hardcasting a Genesis. Resolves, too. So a strange mix of utility creatures continues to smash my opponent to a bloody lump. Yes, this one was just as exciting as it reads.

Game 2: My opponent starts with Relic and EE for 2 while I make a Knight. Then he decides to miss his fourth land drop. Bad move muchacho, very bad move. I make another Knight for good measure and they start to monster stomp his manabase. Thing about Landstill is: It doesn't really work all too well without lands. Facing two obscenely hugh Knight probably doesn't help either. Kind of one-sided to say the least...

4/1/1

After the match we talk about how I fucked him that last game (yeah, I'm just THAT awesome) and he remarks with a grin that at least he got fucked by a beautiful woman and points on the Knight. Slightly disturbed I head for another beer.

Round 7 Tempo Thresh
Game 1: He starts out quite aggressive with double Goyf and 'Goose, counters my stuff and beats me down to 5 when I'm finally able to establish a Survival. And now the true beauty of this deck shows. And by “beauty of the deck” I obviously mean awesomeness of my playskill! Frog Porn intoMother into Gaddok into Finks aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand game!

Game 2: He mulls and has to tap out to search for lands. Consequently he can't disrupt my mana. Or counter my KotR. And neither the second one. Let alone the third one... Yeah, I still am that awesome!

5/1/1

In the end I have the worst Opp-Score of all the players with 16 points and end up 9th... The fuck, this sucks! I down two beers against the frustration (with little success to be honest) cash in my 50€ voucher and we head home. Not quite awesome enough it seems.

Still my favorite tournament report writer. You neglect to tell us how the rest of the team did aside from after the first two rounds, though.

He was a pretty cool guy, actually. All of my opponents were! Nevertheless he obviously needed beer. Most people do =)

Every started out quite well, but sucked out in the end. MSC was in contention till round 5/6 but all in all, pretty unspectacular.

You should have played my (slightly more aggro and OUTDATED) list  No, I think the recently changes from Christopher are the right choices at the moment, although I don´t like the second Maze in the SB. Gratz for the finish, obv 9th place sucks hard.
