It's been awhile since I posted on the forums. I took a 0.5 year break from MTG and now I'm back. I still dislike the official EDH committee/banlist etc so I revisited MTGS' EDH community, found the French/MTGS 1v1 banned list and gave it a nod over the 'official' rules/banlist.

Since Metalworker has been fairly unbanned in the MTGS banned list, I figured I work on an artifact deck immediately. People who know me would remember my Arcum Dagson Primer on MTGS. I have since left the deck as I continue to sink into depression as I witness the deck becoming more diluted in power (Tolarian Academy being banned). In all honesty, I fully believe that Academy should be included in any banlist since it is the focus strategy of many decks that seek to abuse mana easily. Giving that a future thought, I decided to just work on a list that has little risk of being unmolested by future banlists, and at the same time is fun to play competitively and casually, both 1v1 or in multiplayer games.

And thus began my journey for the artifact EDH deck, and as I shifted across the plane of Mirrodin, a silver golem scarred amongst the Scorched Ruins appeared before me.

So I said to Karn, "Karn you play EDH?"

- Note this is a tier 1.5 Karn deck since it is built with both 1v1, multiplayer and casual considerations. But it can be tweaked to be tier 1 (take out a few cute golem-themed cards)

- Goals I want to achieve in this deck:
1) Prototype Portal/Mimic Vat: Sphere of Resistance/Lodestone Golem with Voltaic Key in play
2) Possessed Portal locking the game, and hopefully I have a temporal aperture out
3) Casting Emrakul off Temporal Aperture on turn 3
4) Grim Monolith/Basalt Monolith/Mana Vault + Voltaic Construct + Karn + Voltaic Construct = infinite mana, toss in Planar Portal + Karn and infinite mana = tutor your whole deck or with Magistrate's Scepter + Karn = take infinite turns.
5) 'Fact or Fiction' multiple times with Phyrexian Portal
6) Myr Incubator -> 50+ Myrs and cast Altar Golem or clamp them all!
7) Winter Orb + Tabernacle
8) Erratic Portal Emrakul/Kozilek every 1-2 turn, lol lol.
9) Ward of Bones casted off Scorched Ruins/Lotus Vale/Mishra's Workshop locking game at 2-3 lands.
10) Helm of Possession + Miren
11) Assembling the URZATRON!
12) Need to put up more achievements...

Usually i have seen decks with so much colors as possible in EDH. Building a monocolor deck is not so usual but colorless EDH. I think i will spent many hours reading your decklist.

to your question: currenty i cannot play Karn as a General, however after eldrazi and with current colorless manafix could be fun.

I'm nercoing this thread, since I've taken interest in Karn lately. People at my local store are planning an EDH league starting later this month, and unfortunatly, all my earlier generals have either been already taken or been banned.

Now I threw this list together yesterday night, so some of the choises will be a but fuzzy, but does anyone want to take a look to see if I missed something?

These seem like 90% the standard in Karn decks. Mass is actually decent with the amounts of mana this deck can generate pretty fast.

I'd really like to get some advise to see if I totally forgot something with this list. Proliferate seems decent in this deck, so I saw no reason not to include the best 2 proliferate artifacts.

Also some options on what good sideboard cards would be great. I started pulling cards out of my binders yesterday, but to be honest, my head can't come up with any good options anymore.

Any reason not to run Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth? It certainly seems better than something like Desert.

Have not worked on this list for ages (quit EDH since my playgroup and I have fundamental philosophical differences in viewing the banning 'principles' of EDH, i.e. as a result 6/100 cards in my deck is banned in my playgroup so I decided to fuck it).

Arcbound Ravager is interesting. Is he purely for saccing purposes? I have a crimped Traditional Chinese Masticore so I can put that to good use again :P I ran my list with a Golem theme so the new Titan Forge thingy in the new set that makes 9/9 golems with 3 charge counters (:3: to charge up a counter) is fun. I play the Platinum Emperion over the Angel because of flavor :P But it's also nice that life total doesn't change i.e. you can take damage freely without worrying they bounce the angel.

There is never too much mana sources. Karn basically functions if you accelerate him out, and any mana generator is welcome in the deck since the goal is accelerate, play bombs, or swing with your accelerants.

Is there a reason you don't play Oblivion Stone? I find Powder Keg/Bomb to be too slow in EDH. If you run Bottled cloister, Grafted Skullcap is great as well. I'll have to update this deck when I have time. It was always fun to play, and alittle silly at times :P

Ok, so here's my take.

I'd run 28-30 land (mana producing) and 10-15 mana producing artifacts.

I'd run Lux Cannon and the new 11/11 guy with infect and probably a few more creatures - I wouldn't hesitate to maindeck revoker either - turning off survival just seems like a good plan.
