Shouta Yasooka- "Eternal Confusion" at the 2012 Players Championship
Hello dear fellow friends of competetive Magic,
There is quite some story to tell and I am overwhelmingly suprised that it seems no one came up with this already, after more than 3 months of a weird appearance at the beforementioned, first Players Championship in 2012.
To make the long story short: After my loss of interest in the game itself over the greater part of last year, my fire got somewhat re-ignited and recently I share a moderate interest in the modern format. After tinkering with different archetypes, decks and cards, I chose to get some inspiration and learn more about the format in-depth by watching some of the greatest players of all time doing what they're best at, playing the game at their top notch in big tournaments.
After filing through some events, I was happily surprised to find out about the Players Championship and I was more than excited to see many of the unarguably best players in the world going at it. After watching one of the Semifinals (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aH3lfUDknKo) and searching for Yasookas decklist shortly after, I found myself wondering about a few things... .
Yasookas decklist: here (http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/deck/1056)
Yasookas Video-decktech: there (http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/eventcoverage/tpc12/video10)
And now...let us go back to minute 2 of the Semis between Finkel and Yasooka.
#1: The decklist featured by Conley Woods article has exactly 3 copies of Misty Rainforest, while the video-decktech has a full playset of both Fetchlands
and way more important
#2: How can Yasooka cast Serum Visions while not even having it in his deck?
Riddle. Me. This.
Stay sharp, peace
PS: I do not blame either Mr. Woods, Mr. Yasooka, nor any working member of WotC, but I am definetly not happy with the current state of solving out this confusion that might let players think twice about how competent the management is, even in the highest competetive level.
