Necromancer's Magemark

So say I have a birds of paradise and a troll ascetic in play. The birds is enchanted with Necromancer's Magemark and the Troll has a Rancor on it. My opponent plays a Wrath of God. What happens? Is it any different if he popped a deed for 3?

You return both creatures and Rancor to your hand. No difference if they pop a deed.

Except that you can regenerate Troll under Deed... I still stand by my usual statements of Regeneration being an awful ability.
