1. Dont post and complain about how pointless and and stupid pimping your collection is. Some people just think like to save their money for other things, some people dont want to waste their money on cards, and some people just dont want to go through the hassle of getting certain things, etc, etc...
If your one of these people, for once in your miserable lives, quit complaining and just go masturbate.

I've got lots of Dragons I'd love for her to sign and personalize including my PSA 10 Beta Shivan. Money isn't a worry, as I usually don't limit the amount of cash I spend on dragons or something to go into the dragon collection. There is one exception. Summer Magic Shivan Dragon. I am having a hard time bringing myself to pay for that one, unless I can get it for under a grand.:mad:


I like what you've done to the mat. Artists get paid to be artists, so we all know they can do some cool stuff to cards and mats. I like cards and mats players have personalized, because most players aren't being paid to be artists.

I do like the following artists that I've actually had time to meet multiple times and get to know.
Rob Alexander (http://fan.theonering.net/middleearthtours/alexander.html), He is by far one of the nicest guys I know, and I try to make it to any event I know he's at in the southwest.

Sam Wood (http://ww2.wizards.com/Books/Wizards/Bios/default.aspx?doc=wood), I was lucky to meet him at a Pro Tour event here in San Diego, and no one really showed up so he had nothing to do, and I had no event to play in for a few hours so we got to talk. He is also one of the nicest people I've met.

Larry Elmore (http://www.larryelmore.com/index.htm), If you are familure with D&D, you should know who he is. He has revolutionized the fantasy art world. He has only done a few cards for MTG because of a grudge he kind of had for a long time, but I am more impressed with the work he has done outside of MTG. He and I also share a hobby of interest in old cars.

Where do you see Melissa Benson?Information about comissioning her to do custom work can be found here (http://www.melissabenson.com/commissions/commissions.html). For her to do what I want, it would be like $400, which is a far cry from what I paid Heather to do the Tiger. I don't knock any artist for attempting to live off their art, but I'm not jumping at the chance to pay $400 for it, either. This is the same reason I turned down Terese Nielsen's Extreme AAlterations on my Force of Wills, too. I might have paid $45 each (it is art, after all), but when she jumped the price to $95 each, I had to pass.

Foil Unhinged are lame. I took a look at every basic land you could get foil in the old card frame and chose my favorite picture, and went with a full set of each. In Red Death, you should really have the Rakdos MPS Swamps. Other than that, Guru FTW.

I have the unhinged lands, I honestly like the invasion ones the best because of the artwork (the art on the unhinged swamps is badass, but it's a preference thing...they're basic lands after all, that gives your deck some semblence of individuality because of the choices). The saga swamps don't have very good art imo. Anyway, yeah, I could have way more foils but I'm not sure I'd want the foil wastelands. The fetches would be very cool, but I think the next thing I want are asian foil negators/shades. That would be hot.

I honestly hate the Unhinged lands and think they look like shit. But that's just me. I have the Unglued Swamps in my Red Death, because I've liked them from the get go, and I try to play them in whatever deck I make. I've tried foil asian in my decks before and I just don't care for them and I like the English better; I know, blasphemy, right? Not to mention how annoying it is when I play against bad players and have to constantly tell them what it does or have a judge come over and explain the card text to them.

As far as Unglued vs. Unhinged basics, I prefer Unglued, particularly the Forest and Swamp, although I like them all. Unhinged are nice, especially the Island, but they just don't do it for me. Kinda like Guru; I really like the Plains and Island, but the others...blah.

I was once well on my way to being Teh PimP about 7 years ago when I had Beta and foil playsets of everything available, and everything else was foreign, but my collection got stolen, and I haven't had the heart to really go that route again. I still go for foreign stuff, and foil on cards I use a lot/have excellent art, but mortgage > pimpness.

Foil Urza's Saga is better in every way than foil Unhinged. It has by far the darkest foiling of the boarder, and because of the way they did it, and the picture itself has a much deeper texture. Not to mention that the art was outstanding in the set.

Thanks, I made the Negators myself. Though the ink smeared on the one on the right and I was disappointed with it. If you guys like custom art, I have a few more experiments I made. Most kinda suck since I couldn't figure out how people kept the sharpies from smearing for the longest time.

edit: And let me give a ringing endorsement to the Dragon Shield playmats. They're essentially the same stuff that mouse pads are generally made of, and they have a really nice feel too them.

They can be ungodly expensive, but they are by and large really cool. I have the Phoenix one, which is the best, IMO, although the Green Lantern one is quite nice as well; I also recommend Infinite Crisis, Arkham Asylum, and Heralds Of Galactus. Quite frankly, you can't really go wrong with any of them. They also roll very easily, and in my experience they don't crease.

I know a lot of people are into the whole artist drawing on the playmat...bah. I prefer pre-rendered kickass art myself, hence the Vs. endorsement.

There's also a guy on Ebay who will do custom playmats for you, but I haven't actually seen what the mats themselves look like. His ebay name is hardcorepanda57 if you want to take a look. In theory, they would be really cool, but they're also a tad pricey.

I had an Ebay guy do a playmat for me (Serra Avenger) I'll admit, it is pretty f'in hot, but I had to pull teeth to get it. His Ebay s/n was TripleHHHbiggest fan (or something like that) Anyways, I had ordered 2 playmats.. the avenger and an Ophidian (of course) they were both supposed to be color. Well, my Avenger is b/w and instead of a 'Phid, I got an "X-tinction Agenda" based playmat. yay. Not to mention I had to email the dude like every other day.. so that was my experience. If I ever get my Judge Foil Exalteds I'll post pics of the deck and the playmat.

I would agree that there's nothing particularly spectacular there (although I am rather proud of those States top 8 Serra Avengers) However, my camera couldn't capture the radiance of that Beta WOG.. that thing is so beautiful... there's a pin-hole sized white mark on the top (it looks like someone dinged while taking it out of a sleeve) but that card is incredible. On the contrary, my lotus looks 328493893 x better than it is in real life, it is prolly the worst looking lotus i've ever seen, but I have to keep it forever, since it was a wedding present from my best man.

No. It is a WoTC produced card that exists in other sets. That's like saying Summer Magic isn't legal to play with. Just because it's not making Wizards a profit doesn't mean it isn't a real Magic card.

they aren't even beat, just dirty. some damp toilet paper or a napkin will take that shit right off, and bam you have some slightly played tundras. for five bucks a piece that is insane

What about altered cards' legality in tournament play? I had a talk with the DCI's Chris Zantides about this issue, and the message I got from him was that it would always be the head judge's call as to whether a card is "disruptively" altered. Cards with just signature on them are almost universally acceptable; the fuzziness starts when the whole text box is covered or if the art is obscured too much. Even if the card name is readable, altered cards can be ruled illegal if they seem deceptive to your opponent from a distance. If the card isn't immediately recognizable, it shouldn't be allowed...

...If you want to be perfectly safe, don't use heavily altered cards in tournaments, or at least show the judge ahead of time to get his opinion.

Additionally, profane messages and images on cards are not only illegal in tournaments, but are generally considered bad form in mixed company.

The figure is still there, and all the rules text + the name are there, too. Yes, I know the ambiguously worded rule, and I know it would be at the judges discretion, but I doubt that particular case would be an issue.
