Okay I have been wanting to make a new deck and with Enchantress doing so well I thought I would put it together. The problem is it would cost me around 300 bucks. That is at least a hundred more than I have. But I have always wanted to make a good RG beatz deck because I just love to play with burn and shit. I can build it easily for like $150 with beta Bolts and all that good stuff. So what would you do? Buy a good deck now or buy most of the cards to a deck you really want to play? I would rather buy Enchantress just to let you know. Thoughts?

Buy what you can for Enchantress now, and the next time you get paid, buy the rest of the cards you need. Simple.

Well it is not that simple. I am just a 16 year old high school student. I also have no job. I do get paid once in a while for working, but it is not a lot. I got some cash for selling some cards to my local store and really want another deck. Both decks fit my playing style and I will have fun with either. I will probably see what my local store has in and decide from there. Thanks.

The best thing a high school student can do with $300 is pay for six AP tests. I am not kidding at all about this, those tests saved me so much money in college.

Your parents should pay for your AP tests, since it's their money you'll likely be saving.

If you want something enough, you can achieve it. I know people that worked their way into full sets of power at 16 (if not younger).

Enchantress should be a cinch to put together - buy the most rare/expensive cards, and then trade/work your way into the rest.

Yeah I just wanted another deck to play because playing the same deck starts making magic very stale. Enchantress it is. Should be able to do it. Thanks guys.

6 AP tests = 3 AP tests, they're up to 83 dollars now, it was fucking nuts this year.

It used to be easier, but now that the FBI and similar organizations abroad are cracking down on child pornography, you need a way to launder/hide the money.

I play the same decks a lot. You top 8 when you know that deck the best. I try not to get too attached to my pet deck, so I have at least 1 or 2 other decks to pick from.

I only have Faerie Stompy, Three colors to pick from Gro, and Red Death. I tend to get bored with lot's of things, so I pick between those decks. I know, it took me 2 years to get all that, but I'm happy with the winnings I have and such.

All you need is a job. I just picked up Type 1. The most I have is the non-power staples like Mana Crypt and stuff. Now I'm working my way up to the power 9, imperial seal, and 3 grim tutors. All I need is a job.

You could search various sites trying to find good deals for staples, that you don't necessarily need, but you could turn around for a small profit. Then just keep doing that and you'll have your deck. Also in the future I would not recommend selling to stores, since for the most part you don't get near fair value for your cards (If you can, try to get your parents to open an ebay/paypal for you).

Well I had the chance to go today and I took it. Lost some of my money in my room and could only scrounge up $56. I was pretty mad, but the owner is the nicest guy. Gave me great deals. So I got the following for 56 bucks.

4 Argothian Enchantresses
4 Enchantress Presence
4 Solitary Confinement
4 Sterling Grove
4 Elephant Grass
1 Words of War
3 Seal of Fire
4 Utopia Sprawl
4 Ghostly Prison
2 Sacred Mesa

I was pretty happy. Well almost there. Thanks for the help. I might try that beezy and open an account. I have a ton of baseball cards and stuff that could turn into the rest of my deck. Thanks.

I know everyone wants to make the most pimp deck and all but you could go for like cheaper cards like I saw you talking about beta bolts.. why not 4th ed bolts they are cheaper.. Also shops might give you a better deal on "Played" cards. I have been putting together a stax deck and have had to buy almost all the cards.. (Some I have had for a long time but I have had to buy most.) I bought 3 tangle wire yesterday and I got the shop owner to knock a buck off 2 and 2 bucks off the other because they were a bit rough and tumble... Besides sometimes the played cards have "Special Juice". Maybe I am a bit on the Hippy side but I don't mind the sligthly loved cards.. I sleeve my decks and as long as the card is not hammered.. but played is okay... I would also like to say that I was on a 7 year hiatus and recently started playing again.. I played Zoo in vintage Bazzar reanimator in legacy and RecSur in extended.. then I quit and the DCI redid the list and Extended rotated now I have been trying to find a deck I enjoy.. I tried a survival variant and was not to down with it. then Psychatog and it was not what I thought. I moved on to Ichorid and have had some success with it but also threw together a wildfire deck which led me to this stax thing I am building so I guess my point is I hope the deck is a good fit for you since you are spending all that cash on it (Seems much for a 16 year old being old and having a real job I could easily walk into the shop and drop hundreds at a time but I think the wife would kill me.) I tend to try to go on the cheap with my decks yet I do support the local shop. White borders are okay for me, Played cards are okay for me and I have never been crazy for asians or foils or whatever... maybe that is me maybe since I started playing during revised and the dark and the good cards were white bordered. and there were no sleeves at the time so everything got hammerd..

The Beta Bolts were just there because I can make the RG Beatz deck without a lot of cash. I don't think I am wasting money because if the Bolts stay in nice condition, they will probably not decrease in value. I know I am spending a lot of money on cardboard, but most of the cash I am spending is all from selling cards, so I think of it more as exchanging gifts I got for Christmas. I am already saving in the bank, so it is not like I go absurd with buying cards. But I just need to keep saving and doing som e work to finish the deck. Thanks for all the help.

I'd recommend a playset of Rolling Earthquake so you can pickup AT1 and start playing it properly.

I never see it as wasting money don't get me wrong the chances are that anycard you get for a legacy deck or a vintage deck are going to increase in value over the long haul. I made a throw together titanias song deck for a legacy tourney like 8 years ago spent maybe about 60 bucks on it got top 4 never really played it much after that but the workshops are now worth what 200 bucks a piece or something.. built the Bazzar deck in 98 got 4 bazzars at a convention pack fresh 15 a piece for 3 and 20 for the 4th the dealer asked what the hell do you want this for this card sucks... again now 200 bucks each..

my point was maybe just throw it together on the cheap ya know.. in time pimp it.. but you seem to have it covered..

I get long winded sometimes.. sorry...
