Say you use this on an undestructible artifact like DSC, will it be countered on resolution or will you still put 11 (X) tokens into play?

416.3. If an effect attempts to do something impossible, it does only as much as possible.


Indestructible: If a permanent is indestructible, rules and effects can't destroy it. Such permanents are not destroyed by lethal damage, and they ignore the lethal-damage state-based effect (see rule 420.5c). Rules or effects may cause an indestructible permanent to be sacrificed, put into a graveyard, or removed from the game.

Artifact Mutation will attempt to destroy the Colossus, but that will have no effect. It can still put the tokens into play, though.
