I was wondering if anyone had an opinon about modo classic possibly gaining some attention here at The Source. Now, despite the obvious differences between the formats, they do have alot in common now that MED (master's edition) was released.

Similarity:
I have been crusing old deck lists and legacy tourneys and have found atleast 25 individual decklists/archetypes that can be easily converted into classic. The prinicples and strategies are similar.

The last tourney (with the exception of 1 deck) in the top8 were all established legacy builds, many of them card for cards transfers from legacy top8 lists.

Differences:
Restricted list/un banned cards: We get Clamp, Dragon, Entomb and Desire all unrestricted.. We also get Flash and Vamp Tutor restricted.

No duals = lots of damage from shock lands

While MED brought us FoW and many other legacy staples, still lot is missing :(

Can there be a peace between us?

First off, Welcome to The Source. Enjoy your stay, but you have to do me a favor and read the Forum Rules (http://mtgthesource.com/forums/announcement.php?f=24) and FAQ for New Members (http://mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3468) before you continue posting. There are strict guidelines on grammar and spelling on this site, please familiarize yourself with them, otherwise you'll be on the recieving end of a ton of moderative attention.

Now that that's out of the way, I can say this much - MED brings a lot to classic, but as much as the simalaraties exist, the differences far outweigh them. There is simply too much broken stuff allowed in the format for it to compare in any viable way to the Legacy metagame. Feel free to start up threads on Classic legal decks in the N&D forum though, we'll do what we can.
