Well I am not sure that this has been discussed, sorry if it has.

I am sitting here building a deck and am not sure if I should put in Ponder over Brainstorm. Ponder I feel because of the shuffle effect is better, but then its a sorcery where as Brainstorm is a instant and you can do it in response to things or end of the turn. I was also thinking about Serum Visions, but I think it's the worst out the three. I am only going to run one of the three of them because I have a lot of other card draw, otherwise I would be running both or maybe all three of them.

Based on the number of threads (as well as pages in them) discussing Ponder vs Portent, etc all agreeing that Brainstorm is a "auto-include 4 of", I'd say your answer seems pretty clear right there.

If there's any fetchlands in the deck, Brainstorm is just better, by far.

Brainstorm or Ponder? Is that even a valid question? Brainstorm FTW.

I don't know, the reason I like Ponder is that it can shuffle. Sometimes with Brainstorm I got 3 land on the top and have no way to get rid of them. Usally that happens to me later in the game so I don't need the land.

If for some reason I were playing a mono-blue deck with no fetchlands, I'd probably play Ponder first. Otherwise, it's a no-brainer. Brainstorm.

Brainstorm.

I'm not even sure why this is being stated.

Just ignore the fact that Brainstorm is a way to "counter" discard like Duress by hiding any cards you don't want them having.

When you put blue into your deck, there's a 99.999999999999999999999% chance that deck will be running Brainstorm.

Assuming the deck is any good.

I think there's a general consensus on which card is better.
