Ah right, that one. You found a way to make it useful, assuming the rules allowed for it.
Update: we're at 6 entries now.

Note for the Bannathon:
With 8 participants again, the top 4 scoring decks for this round will be banned for next rounds.
So if you want to start brewing for round 6 already, keep that in mind.
Asthereal scores for round 5:
1. Asthereal (TO): SUPERCAT STRIKES!!!! Savannah, Steppe Lynx, Fastbond, Selesnya Sanctuary
2. Wrath of Pie: OTP you keep Quarter open to destroy Sanctuary in response to the trigger for a draw, OTD you cast Mayor and the just Quarter something. 1-4
3. Whoshim: Chalice stops Fastbond. Champion blocks Lynx. Vault kills me. 0-6
4. GoblinSmashmaster: Skreins stops Lynx from doing its thing, and 2/2 beats 0/1 quite handily. 0-6
5. H: Savannah, cast Lynx. You drop Depth and cast Hexmage, but keep it. I make Lynx 20/21 and attack, you block with Hexmage, before damage sac for Depths. No damage, and next turn you kill me. 0-6
6. FTW: You Snuff the Lynx, and any threat will finish the job. My deck is a bit fragile. 0-6
7. Tylert: SUPERCAT STRIKES! FINALLY! Vial is too slow to stop the Lynx from turning into a 20/21 monster and kill you. 6-0
8. apple713: Yeah, Ulamog might be better than Steppe Lynx/Fastbond combo... 0-6
Total: 7 points. Ouch. I guess it was a little too early for the supercat. :frown:
2. Wrath of Pie: Ghost Quarter, Elvish Spirit Guide, Mayor of Avabruck, Pithing Needle
1. Asthereal (TO): Savannah, Steppe Lynx, Fastbond, Selesnya Sanctuary WD
3. Whoshim: Mutavault, Sol Ring, Chalice of the Void, Etched Champion WW
4. GoblinSmashmaster: Bayou, Skyshroud Cutter, Dark Ritual, Delirium Skeins WL
5. H: Dark Depths, Vampire Hexmage, Lotus Petal, Lotus Petal WL
6. FTW: Scrubland, Thoughtseize, Cenn's Tactician, Snuff Out LL
7. Tylert: Chancellor of the tangle, aether vial, myr superion, deputy of detention WW
8. apple713: Lotus Petal, Lotus Petal, Channel, Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre LL
7w1d = 22
1. Asthereal (TO): (Savannah, Steppe Lynx, Fastbond, Selesnya Sanctuary)
Faster on the Play, I can block on the Draw though. 6-0
2. Wrath of Pie: (Ghost Quarter, Elvish Spirit Guide, Mayor of Avabruck, Pithing Needle)
Quarter or Needle are problems on the Draw, but I win on the play. 3-3
3. Whoshim: (Mutavault, Sol Ring, Chalice of the Void, Etched Champion)
Win on the play, lose to Chalice on the Draw. 3-3
4. GoblinSmashmaster: (Bayou, Skyshroud Cutter, Dark Ritual, Delirium Skeins)
Win on the play, lose on the Draw. 3-3
5. H: Bye, myself.
6. FTW: (Scrubland, Thoughtseize, Cenn's Tactician, Snuff Out)
Win on the Play, lose to Thoughtsieze on the Draw. 3-3
7. Tylert: (Chancellor of the tangle, aether vial, myr superion, deputy of detention)
I'm faster on the play and the draw. 6-0
8. apple713: (Lotus Petal, Lotus Petal, Channel, Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre)
Hmm, this is probably the better version of my deck really. 3-3
9 wins, I think. 27? Did I finally make something that didn't obviously suck?
Ill post this in a better format later.
1. Asthereal (TO): Savannah, Steppe Lynx, Fastbond, Selesnya Sanctuary
WW - confirm
2. Wrath of Pie: Ghost Quarter, Elvish Spirit Guide, Mayor of Avabruck, Pithing Needle
WW - confirm
3. Whoshim: Mutavault, Sol Ring, Chalice of the Void, Etched Champion
WL -otp annihilate etched sigil and otd lose to chalice
4. GoblinSmashmaster: Bayou, Skyshroud Cutter, Dark Ritual, Delirium Skeins
WW - delerium doesnt really affect me since my cards shuffle back.
5. H: Dark Depths, Vampire Hexmage, Lotus Petal, Lotus Petal
WL - confirm
6. FTW: Scrubland, Thoughtseize, Cenn's Tactician, Snuff Out
WL - ulamog is indestructible but I lose to thoughtseize on the draw.
7. Tylert, who's bound to win something at some point with these four  : Chancellor of the tangle, aether vial, myr superion, deputy of detention
WW - ulamog smash / annihilate vial.
8. apple713: Lotus Petal, Lotus Petal, Channel, Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre me
33 points
I really wanted to play Karn Liberated instead of ulamog but there were just a few situations where he fell short. He would have lost to wrath both games cause of needle, lost one to goblin smasher due to discard, and lost both to H cause i couldnt recreate the combo. Maybe in the future I could make hime work.
@H - I love depths combo but you end up stalemating with land destruction and I felt like it was coming.
FTW: Scrubland, Thoughtseize, Cenn's Tactician, Snuff Out
1. Asthereal (TO): I don't even need to cast Thoughtseize, I can just Snuff Out and win with a 1/1. WW. 6-0
2. Wrath of Pie: I think I win both. I can always cast Cenn's Tactician immediately after dropping Scrubland. If you ever try to resolve Mayor that means you haven't used GQ yet so I can Snuff Out. Either way I have a creature and you don't. See below. WW 6-0
3. Whoshim: OTP I Thoughtseize Sol Ring and you can't cast anything. OTD Chalice wrecks my deck and Champion is protection from Snuff Out. WL 3-3
4. GoblinSmashmaster: OTP I Thoughtseize the Skeins, then Cenn's Tactician + Snuff Out beats your 2/2. OTD I can't keep anything useful. WL 3-3
5. H: OTP I Thoughtseize Hexmage. OTD Marit Lage is both black and indestructible so I lose hard. WL 3-3
7. Tylert: OTP I Thoughtseize Vial. OTD Vial comes out first but I can get rid of Deputy and Myr with Thoughtseize and Snuff Out while Cenn's Tactician grows big enough to beat Chancellor, then eventually attack you for 20. WW 6-0
8. apple713: OTP I Thoughtseize Channel. OTD I wish I had Path to Exile or Innocent Blood instead. WL 3-3
10 wins, 0 draws, 4 losses = 30 points
FTW vs Wrath
OTP
Me - T1 Scrubland, Cenn.
If you GQ me, you can't cast Mayor and the 1/1 wins.
If you play Mayor, I immediately Snuff Out before you untap GQ and the 1/1 wins.
OTD Line 1
You - T1 Mayor
Me - Scrubland, Cenn, Snuff Out. 1/1 wins.
OTD Line 2
You - T1 Needle (or do nothing or hold GQ up)
Me - Scrubland, Cenn.
If you GQ me I can't Snuff Out anymore, but you also can't cast Mayor, so the 1/1 wins.
@apple - The other decks I considered were Channel Ulamog (with different mana sources) and Urborg + Depths + Hexmage + Thoughtseize, but I was expecting more disruption and wanted more outs on the draw. I was hoping to save Channel till I got Thoughtseize banned :p. Looks like Ulamog snuck out one more WW thanks for the reshuffle clause!
I love looking through cards especially new ones, mainly to see if they will be aby good in legacy. I also stumbled across God-Pharaoh's Statue and for as unique as it would have been, it would have been extremely binary winning all otp and losing all otd.
GoblinSmashmaster scores for round "Supercat lives to fight another day":
1. Asthereal (TO): You can't Landfall. 6-0
2. Wrath of Pie: T1 Mayor is too fast. 3-3
3. Whoshim: Chalice stops Ritual, then you have more 2/2s. 3-3
4. GoblinSmashmaster: That's me!
5. H: Your turn 1 fatty doesn't shuffle your cards back. 3-3
6. FTW: Too much disruption. 3-3
7. Tylert: There's nothing to Vial. 6-0
8. apple713: Your turn 1 fatty does shuffle cards back. 0-6
Total: 24 points.
3. Whoshim: Mutavault, Sol Ring, Chalice of the Void, Etched Champion
1. Asthereal (TO): Savannah, Steppe Lynx, Fastbond, Selesnya Sanctuary 6-0 confirmed.
2. Wrath of Pie: Ghost Quarter, Elvish Spirit Guide, Mayor of Avabruck, Pithing Needle 0-6 confirmed.
4. GoblinSmashmaster: Bayou, Skyshroud Cutter, Dark Ritual, Delirium Skeins 3-3 confirmed.
5. H: Dark Depths, Vampire Hexmage, Lotus Petal, Lotus Petal 3-3 confirmed.
6. FTW: Scrubland, Thoughtseize, Cenn's Tactician, Snuff Out 3-3 confirmed.
7. Tylert: Chancellor of the tangle, aether vial, myr superion, deputy of detention 3-3. Chalice stops Aether Vial on the play. On the draw, you get Vial down. Myr is colorless, so Etched Champion doesn't help me.
8. apple713: Lotus Petal, Lotus Petal, Channel, Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre 3-3 confirmed.
21 points.
GoblinSmashmaster, I really like Skyshroud Cutter. I can't believe I have not seen that card before. I love cards from that set and I love alternative cost cards, but I haven't seen it before. I plan on jamming one in my Tortured Existence deck just for fun. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I'll try to cough up a deck today or tomorrow morning. I'll let everybody know when they can start to send in decks for round 6.
Apologies for the delay. It's rather busy on my side. But...
Round 6 of 4CB Season 2, the Vintage Bannathon, has started!
I have PM'ed myself my deck for round 6, so you can start sending me your decks.
You will find standings for round 5 and new bannings based on results from round 5 in the Google Spreadsheet, or in the post above.
DEADLINE FOR ROUND 6: THURSDAY the 23rd of May, at 6:00AM Central European Time.
(That's my time. Just send me the deck Wednesday evening latest, you'll be fine.)
(And yes, that's Thursday instead of the usual Wednesday. This is because I'm gone on Wednesday, so I won't be able to post decks.)
PLEASE NOTE:
- The way you send your deck to me matters. Please send it in the way described below, so it doesn't cost me an hour of editing before I can post all the decks.
Please send your deck as follows: Goblin Guide, Mogg Fanatic, Pithing Needle, Cavern of Souls (so with card tags around each card, and not above eachother), with your Username and 4CB S02R06 in the topic. Many of you already did this for previous rounds. Thanks a lot, this really saves me the time and hassle of copying and pasting text and tags!
- The banned list (you'll find it in the second post and in the Google Spreadsheet). So keep an eye on what you send in.
After the deadline has passed, I will post all decks on the forum here, and you can start puzzling out your scores.
If you have any questions, please read the first two posts of this thread first. If you can't find the answer there, drop a message here. We'll answer a.s.a.p.
Also, the Google Spreadsheet has been updated: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing
Happy deck designing everybody!
Friendly reminder: two days until the deadline.
(Yup, the deadline is a day later than usual.)
