I'd be down. EST evenings.
The new Grand Abolisher stops grip, as does City of Solitude. The problem is that neither of those are great MD and both force novel colors.
When I played this deck, I loved playing Mogg War Marshal. He acts like a ritual mid combo and can stall the game leading up to a combo. I'd also try to fit one SGC in the main.
Warren Instigator...
This is a brilliant idea.
As a mathematician and modeler I see the potential to automate this process based on aggregated tournament report statistics. I envision the following:
1. Parse data...
I knew I traded into a set of those for a reason. Maybe between Melira, Birthing Pod, GSZ, and Fauna Shaman the deck may be able to go for the combo or combo-control route. I'll try to work up a list.
It is.
I feel that in order to really be competitive, a deck like this would need to be able to go aggro as a backup. Is that possible?
You could also try playing both Garruk and Tezzeret the Seeker with some artifact mana to give you more ways to make Stasis one sided.
I used to live in the NoVa area, and I live close enough now that I'd be willing to make a trip some weekend.
Another creature to consider is Loxodon Peacekeeper.
He isn't huge, but you are pretty much guaranteed to have control of him.
Interesting approach. I had tried a pseudo LD package before with Aftershock and Dwarven Blastminer, but I never had the balls to actually MD Ankh. It didn't work out, but that was before Lodestone...
Sundering Titan is, but he also costs 8. MUD Stompy aside, few of these decks reliably get 8 mana.
Moreso than another piece of disruption or another broken threat, I feel stompy decks need more...
I think you guys sent those out right before I met you, so I don't think any are mine. I'd love a set if any are unclaimed, though.
Lava Dart was also played in some supposedly decent (I didn't test them) decks utilizing Wee Dragonauts and Gelectrode.
Also off the top of my head, I have played both of these to good effect in...
Animate Wall reminds me of Mario 64.
Jump on it's back!
Especially if one of your instants could really be an artifact - Enlightened Tutor - or one of your combo tutors/beatsticks was also basically an artifact - Stoneforge Mystic.
1) Knight of the Reliquary
2) Sensei's Divining Top
3) Dark Confidant
4) Lion's Eye Diamond
5) Umezawa's Jitte
I like this idea. Orim's Chant and some other utility instants would make for a solid tutor package. Most of those instants would likely combo with Isochron Scepter as well, though this would play...
It has been discussed for a number of decks, most notably Dragon Stompy. The consensus has always ended up that simply running more cards that do what you want is always better because they aren't...
Reanimator could easily be shredded wheat.
You drop one fat brick and try to make as tough to eat as possible.
I have to disagree on stax being slow - I think it can be slower than most decks, but that it should aim to win as quickly as possible. I can't count how many times I have lost with Stax because I...
Everflowing Chalice is bad. It is best used as an accelerant, but takes at least 4 mana to be decent at doing so... which means you have 4 mana and could have played Thran Dynamo. It may combo with...
I have always thought Aven Brigadier, while technically sound, just looks really, really, dumb.
Cash Stax also seems appropriate.
Any reason for Powder Keg in the board over Ratchet Bomb?
Have you considered Evershrike?
I have wanted that card to be good for so long.
Storm World is another alternative to the rack.
It also wins pimp wars.
