New material: assassin's trophy?
Here is the deck I play since the ban of deathrite shaman:
4 force of will
4 ponder
2 veteran explorer
3 cabal therapy
4 brainstorm
1 umezawa's jitte
1 arctic merfolk
2 abrupt...
Play 1 academy rector :)
I think you miss 1 drops. You have ponder, brainstorm and cabal therapy but only ponder is really good on turn 1.
Did you consider phyrexian tower?
I've played some time a living wish build but it was too slow. Unless you already have aluren, you basically offer a timewalk to your opponent.
However green sun zenith seems even more appealing...
I think there is no black or white position on this question. It's more a question of personal preference. You should try both to make yourself an idea.
I agree with that argument. And altough I agree that fatal push is better to kill delvers or deathrites, I feel more confident with decay because it's far more versatile. Because legacy format is so...

Alex Barnett plays red aluren for years with multiple top8's in big events, I think he masters the deck a lot
You say you don't know the deck but the questions are really good. Not sure if there is a right answer, much depends of your meta but also personal preferences.
Just 1 thing I don't really agree...
I've played quite some time which such a version of the deck. The issues why I've changed:
- against some decks, you help them much with veteran explorer
- the deck has to play cabal therapy...
Sure, thanks ;-)
I see many lists having 2 basic forests but I prefer to play just 1 because it's not the color I need the most.
Having Aluren costs GG doesn"t require to play to play 2 forests I believe, correct ?...
@Merrioc
I see in your sideboards many cards against small creatures:
1 Abrupt Decay
2 Umezawa's Jitte
2 Toxic Deluge
2 Dread of Night
I would recommend -1 Jitte -1 Dread of Night +2...
@Apocynum
I would take out the discard, as they play using the top of the library.
With red I would bring in pyroblasts, with the white recruiter build: extra decay and oozes in order to play a...
Thanks for the reply.
The point with FOW is that if it is needed, I could exile whatever blue card.
That means that to your list are added : parasitic strix, harpy and arctic merfolk.
Even if...
First of all my current deck:
1 parasitic strix
4 recruiter of the guard
4 baleful strix
4 deathrite shaman
1 birds of paradise
2 cavern harpy
1 arctic merfolk
1 leovold
Personnally I remove FOW's to enter removal / ensnaring bridge. They have too many discard & counters
4 fow 4 decay that is greedy ;-)
I like the list but would add the 4th aluren, probably in the place of a trophy mage or jace.
@those who play cabal therapy: I rarely see gitaxian probe in lists. Why is that? I prefer it over sylvan library for example, which I find slow. It allows faster starts, especially after mulligan....
@Fry: Thanks for the report. I would recommend you to go Baleful Strix up to 4, maybe in the place of Spellstutter Sprite or Coiling Oracle, because they are so good against creatures deck (delver /...
I like the rectors and explorers a lot, but I think you play too many high casting cost cards. I've found living wish is too slow. Could you not swap a rector for a recruiter? Because when looking...
I agree that Leovold is great against D&T and should remain in IMO (think about the cards that target: wasteland, rish port, jitte, sword or fire/ice etc...)
Maybe it's personal style or local metagame but it wouldn't work for me. If I fetch island on turn 1 to suspend vision, then I can't play turn 2 hymn or decay. I feel this version suffers too much...
