Regarding the manabase, ANT seems to do perfectly fine with only 2 U Seas, perhaps we could also cut one to fit another color. If that were the case though, I think I would rather run green over red...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I haven't played this deck in a while but am thinking of bringing it to my weekly tourny. Question: has anyone tested contagion in the SB as an answer to pesky creatures (DRS, Thalia, Canonist,...

Anyone else think Treasure Cruise has huge potential in this deck? Looks like it could really push the deck to another level of consistency.

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

This is probably a bad idea, but back to the conversation of what cards are available as mana sources/ rituals to prevent combo from fizzling, how about a singleton burnt offering or cabal ritual to...

How often are you guys even using surgical? Against other graveyard and combo decks, we are usually faster. The main time it is useful for me is against loam wasteland decks with chalice, which is...

Indeed, I went up to 3 serenity because my meta is filled with dark dpths decks running chalice and sphere of resistance. Once you 6 for 1 somebody, you never go back :)

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I want to add that it seems like I get mana flooded more than I get mana screwed (maybe I just have bad luck). So, I want to go back to testing the 13 lands, and either 2 chrome mox, or 1 chrome and...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Went 2-1 at a local tonight, losing in the championship round. Unfortunately, fewer people showed up than usual so it was 3 rounds instead of 4+. I played 2 games on camera, so I'll link that if...

I sometimes forget, mid combo with emrakul in hand, that I can entomb and reanimated children-it just takes a sec to remeber lol.

On another note, at least in my meta I think this deck is very...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

If we are running 15 lands, I like the mox diamond idea. At 14, I think I would prefer a second chrome mox, especially if we are playing 2 LDV. But the land configuration as is has worked very well...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Went 4-0 and a local legacy event tonight. I don't usually do tournament reports but I figured i'd throw this up. I ran Koby's list with a 15 card SB (3 chain of vapor).

    Round 1 vs. Dredge

I don't like it either, and you can tell it is budget (watery grave/ Gemstone mine). But I figured everyone should see a list that placed well recently.

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

The difference being that CoV costs mana, as well as does not timewalk by putting the card on top of the RUG library, a big and relevant tempo swing overall. Anyway, just my thoughts. CoV is still my...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

@Koby, I still think submerge is a very viable answer to the RUG match-up if you are expecting a prevalence of it in your meta. The timewalk aspect of it has done wonders in testing for buying me the...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I still am not on the 3 CMC train, and I think we have found that SnT is just not effective enough with the limited amount of creatures and mana.

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I really don't like careful study in the deck, it is just too hard to hit grisel with only 3-4 of him. I have been running 3 grisel, to increase self-discard, and 2 LDV main, to act as entomb 5-6....

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

3-4 Griselbrand also increases our chances of draw, discard grisel at end step, pass turn. This may not be ideal, but it is another way to get grisel in the yard.
