    Re: [Primer/Deck] Stax

They work well together in my experience; metalworker pays for bridge and dumps the hand, also grants enough mana to Inventors' Fair a bridge+dump it. With 4 Fair and 4 Metalworker it's not unlike...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Stax

Sure, it does a lot of damage at parity. Problem is that most of the better decks are very good at getting (and staying) ahead on board, ie DRS + Strix, which has lead to a lot of my games feeling...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Stax

Ghost Quarter sets the deck back on mana for no effect vs most of the legacy meta, in a deck loaded with 3 and 4 drops; by the time it's worth activating our opponent should have scarier things to...

Even better, if you sacrifice a clue to smokestack Tireless Tracker gets the +1/+1 counter

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Stax

At that point I think the deck is just Stompy/Sylvan Plug. I've wanted to make something like that though, like:

    4 Ancient Tomb
    4 City of Traitors
    8 Forest
    3 Foothills
    1 Dryad Arbor

    4...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Stax

Thinking of testing this vs 4C Pile this coming Friday:

    4 Wasteland
    4 Rishadan Port
    4 Ancient Tomb
    4 City of Traitors
    3 Inventors' Fair
    3 Buried Ruin
    1 Dunes of the Dead
    1 Mishra's Factory

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Stax

Well then you're just exploring old ground; was tinkering a bit, ended up with this, seems like fun.

    1 Scavenging Ooze
    1 Ramunap Excavator
    1 Qasali Pridemage
    4 Knight of the Reliquary

    4...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Stax

First thought: Knight is going to rot in hand a lot. However, some GSZ with a ramunap and maybe scooze to boot (plus friends post-board) alleviates this issue quite a bit.

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Stax

In the metalworker version (can't speak for the other versions) I find Nic-Fit to be unwinable, Jund/Aggro Loam is also generally very difficult to win. Elves can be a pain if you're not prepared. ...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Stax

I find Port odd in a deck running Crucibles, seems like Ghost Quarter would be better most of the time. Dunes is interesting, not killing DRS had me worried about it, but maybe it's worth a go.

    I...

Just played a few games with Stax vs Loam yesterday, and one thing sticks out: Metalworker must die. Between Inventors' fair and just being able to overwhelm the board, games where Metalworker lives...

This deck is very incredibly mana hungry, and metalworker fuels that hunger. This is especially true of any play involving Inventors' Fair or Buried Ruin, which is a large part of the incentive for...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Stax

Usually if i've had a bridge/cloister out, I've also resolved a trinisphere or chalice; retrospectively, one of those was usually involved in a victory along with the bridge lock.

    Will reiterate...

Aside from T1 Trinisphere, Bridge+Cloister is basically a lock, game 1 at least (I run two cloister partially to beat infect)

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Stax

The lifeloss of spellskite has always worried me off of running it; between ancient tomb and my opponent, it's not uncommon to stabilize at 1-3 life. This is aside from Welding Jar being phenomenal...

Stacks: basically any deck that doesn't run abrupt decay; in retrospect, I managed to dodge all the abrupt decay decks; decks without abrupt decay tend to just scoop to lock pieces, and it's a game...

    3 Inventors Fair
    3 Buried Ruin
    3 Mishra’s Factory

Did some thinking, trying to write up a sideboard plan for my current stax build so that I can loan out the deck to people and give them some help. Was hoping to receive some harsh criticism.
