    Re: [Deck] Bant

In a GSZ build with no Forces main, a Teeg main is 100% correct.

If you're playing Knights, Karakas main is necessary. Its a versatile land that you want access to in game 1 against Lands, Sneak &...

    Re: [Primer] Maverick 2.0 - GW/x

After scrubbing out on day 1 of the SCG Open this weekend, I placed 10th in the Classic with Punishing Maverick (http://www.starcitygames.com/decks/123975).

    Creature Spells (21)
    4x Mother of...

Welcome, check out the section of the Primer on Page 1 which focuses on the Punishing Fire version if you haven't already!

    Re: [Deck] Bant

Nice to hear that the ol' pizza man isn't hopelessly dated.

I've found that basics kind of suck in GSZ + TNN Bant because your manabase is pulled in so many directions. However, they are useful...

    Re: [Deck] Bant

I like the 4th SFM as a threat mainly because it costs 2 mana. My maindeck Blue count in this configuration is 18, which is enough for 4 Forces but is the minimum. So I don't feel its necessary to...

    Re: [Deck] Bant

Played this in a small event over the weekend (19 players):

    Creature Spells (15)
    4x Noble Hierarch
    4x Stoneforge Mystic
    1x Qasali Pridemage
    1x Scavenging Ooze
    3x True-Name Nemesis
    2x Knight...

    Re: [Deck] Jund

Punishing Fire likely has to go from this deck. It puts a lot of strain on the manabase which is further exacerbated by the loss of DRS.

    Re: [Deck] Bant

You can split the difference with 4 Noble/3 GSZ/1 Arbor while still playing 3-4 Forces main a la the old Reid Duke-designed list.

Playing 4 GSZ generally means moving Force side which isn't a...

    Re: [Primer] Maverick 2.0 - GW/x

You can play Naya with just the 4 Birds. If doing this, make sure you play 3 Equips, and check out :r::r: spells since you'll be able to consistently cast them.

    Re: Esper Legends

The 7th (and 8th or even 9th) fetchland sounds right if you're playing Tasigurs.

Deprive seems like an underplayed card in Modern, but maybe that's my lack of format knowledge speaking. Its kind...

I made Top8 at the the Giga-Bites Legacy Quarterly over the weekend. List:

    4x Mother of Runes
    3x Noble Hierarch
    1x Birds of Paradise
    3x Stoneforge Mystic
    2x Qasali...

    Re: Esper Legends

You're right, I guess its mostly a question of which matchups you want to improve or expect to face. I can see how Esper gets a big boost against Jund and UWx Control compared to UWR for example.

Truthfully I've only resolved Serum Visions and Opt on Cockatrice, so you likely know better . I should clarify that I wouldn't play say 24 lands without including 4 manlands/utility lands,...

    Re: Esper Legends

I didn't realize you were playing so few lands. As Legacy players our instinct is to cut lands for cantrips, but I don't think that's a good idea in Modern because the cantrips are so awful. I would...

I like the concept of this deck a lot. Geist is one of my favorite cards and is waaaayyy past its prime in Legacy so I'm happy to see it played in Modern. Some of my thoughts:

    Re: [Deck] UWR Delver

While we can't play DRS ourselves, at least we have the ability to load up on 1 mana removal to kill DRS on the draw.

I never play YP in UWR Delver but typically play 2 Probes anyway - the card is...

    Re: [Deck] UWR Delver

I've played UWR Delver at many FNMs over the last few months. Its not a T1 deck by any means but is still powerful, versatile, and very playable - I'm actually surprised I don't see it more, as its...

Read the primer my friend :)

Collected Company can be powerful, but is probably too high variance. If you try it, let us know how it goes.

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Zoo

For Big Zoo, I think GSZ is significantly better than BBE. GSZ is a stronger consistency tool and the ability to tutor for creatures is invaluable in Legacy.

I do like your list though - curious...

Sorry for the double post - here's what I played at SCG Worcester:

So timmyod17 and TheDiscoPower day 2'd with GWB and I day 2'd with Punishing (44th place finish).

Unfortunately all three of us played against each other of the course of the tournament :(

    Re: [Primer] Maverick 2.0 - GW/x

I don't have experience as Junk in the matchup - but Deluge and ZP are definitely great cards against Maverick.

Ooze is definitely great vs Dredge decks and allowed me to win game 1. My opponent...

I'd consider going down to 1 Crop Rotation, or cutting both Crop Rotations and Bojuka Bog entirely. I'm not sure Crop Rotation is powerful and flexible enough with only Bog, Karakas, and Wasteland as...

    Re: [Primer] Maverick 2.0 - GW/x

Voice of Resurgence is very good against two of the format's best decks, Grixis Delver and Czech Pile.

Neither of these decks plays removal that 1-for-1's it, so it's effectively card advantage...
