I took the following list to the Legacy Showdown this past Saturday at GP Houston:
4 LED
3 Chrome Mox
4 Lotus Petal
4 Rite of Flame
4 Pyretic Ritual
4 Desperate Ritual
4 Seething Song
4...
Not functionally the same, no. Snow does other things, though... Opens up other interactions (that are probably meaningless in Legacy, but whatever). I think they could do it.
Wonder what the odds are for getting snow duals? IMO that's the best way to get around the RL for duals.
The 3x carpet and (I imagine) 2x Dromoka + Temple Garden come in against blue decks, with the third as a Living Wish target. The Welder is a Living Wish target, and everything else is a BWish target....
The only format that I care about (my Cube) is getting at least one card (Brimaz), so I'm happy. I just wish it wasn't a Standard-playable mythic. Maybe he never finds a real home...
JTMS costs 4x the amount Land Tax costs, but only 300% more.
Other than that, your analysis seems sound to me.
Old:
Mana Drain -- adding insult to injury since 1994. My favorite ramp card.
New:
Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas -- I just love this card. Love the artwork, love the abilities. I haven't been...

I'm afraid the writing is on the wall for WotC's support of Legacy. Between now and August 2013, there are seven (7) Modern...

Master of the Pearl Trident - UU

Other Merfolk creatures you control get +1/+1 and have Islandwalk.

Neither deck is particularly interactive, TES less so.
I used to play TES, now I have a Dredge deck. I find Dredge to be less mindcrushingly difficult to play properly than TES, though it is still...
That's pretty much the plan when anybody has active hate like Relic or Crypt. The goal is to make the yard just interesting/pressing enough for them to pop it, while holding back stuff to recover...
@1maarten1:
I think that counting Darkblast as a real dredger is generous. Dredge 3 is okay but not that great. I like Firestorm because it's uncounterable discard for AT LEAST two cards. I can:

Alright Matt, I suppose that you've redeemed yourself with respect to Dredge ;)
Seriously, though, great article. I loved the interview format.
No card exists in a vacuum. While there are a number of Legacy cards that are plainly good, there are *many* more that are only good because other cards exist:
Progenitus - bad without cards to...
Matt, I love your articles and in general you're extremely insightful, but your Dredge hating was not "overemphasis for dramatic effect." It was oversight, mis-analysis, or whatever you want to call...
The best option now is a new deck ;) Seriously though, Dredge is best in an unprepared or underprepared meta. Between SCG's LA and Atl, people will be prepared now. Sucks because I just finished...
This NPH card was spoiled this morning on MTGS (yeah, I know). It was in Japanese, so the translation is a little rough, but you get the idea:
"Phyrexian Unlife"
Rare
2W
Enchantment
You do not...
Nice article, Liam (and congrats on your finish). Good job pointing out the interactions between Shattering Spree and Chalice, and how to play around them. I had to do a little research to figure out...
Not as good as FKZ since it doesn't give haste. And that's really the only slot it fits in. The other DR targets have utility (blow stuff up, gain life, lockout, etc.) that Elesh Norn doesn't quite...
Great report! Glad to see you and the deck do so well. I have thought that UR Painter had a lot of potential for a while now; thanks for demonstrating it. Of course, now it will probably be more...
4 Ichorid seems excessive, but he is running 3 Thugs which is 1-2 more than I usually run. You'll see 4 Ichorid in Vintage because it's a free creature against Workshop decks, but it's pretty unusual...
Okay, so are there specific matches/deck strategies that Dredge is typically losing to when it gets into the top 8/16? Using that as a litmus test can reduce bad play as a factor, and we can focus on...
I agree, this is a very healthy format right now. The wide variety of decks top-16ing, and the week-to-week meta shifts are good indications. If combo continues to do well, I would expect to see more...
Thread necro -- appropriately enough. Does this deck get any more viable if your mana artifacts have flash?
Shimmer Myr
Creature - Myr
Cost - 3
Flash
You may cast artifact cards as though...
