    Re: [Primer] Nic Fit

Deed and QPM already give you plenty of noncreature hate. If you're worried about planeswalkers, you probably want Maelstrom Pulse or To The Slaughter.

    Re: [Primer] Nic Fit

BG isn't any cheaper than the other versions really. The biggest expense you need to start playing the deck is 8 fetchlands, and it doesn't really matter which ones they are as long as they are green...

    Re: [Primer] Nic Fit

    1. Bant is way less consistent at accelerating our mana. We don't have Phyrexian Tower, all our sacrifice outlets cost mana except Therapy.

    2. Therapy and Tower can't be responded to. Using...

    Re: [Primer] Nic Fit

I've run it in the sideboard before. It's solid. Might be more difficult to fit in if we're on a Wishboard already though.

    Re: [Primer] Nic Fit

Getting undisrupted Rector triggers to happen with any consistency is going to be the difficult point.

If we're looking at a standard Leap list:

4x Explorer, Zenith, Leap, Souls, Therapy
    2x...

    Re: [Primer] Nic Fit

The Sideboard option probably shouldn't be the Witch, since 50% of your rector/witch triggers would be that card, and not finding dovescape is awkward (and Wish is already mana intensive, so 4 -> 5...

    Re: [Primer] Nic Fit

Basically, if we want reasonable odds of a rector trigger we need sources of Rectors and sources of sac outlets.

    Possible rector tutors:
    Leap
    Diabolic Intent
    Living Wish
    Eladamri's Call...

    Re: [Primer] Nic Fit

Note that if we run additional filtering options (like Library, Guile or similar) we can increase our odds of drawing Rectors without needing tutors or wishes. Getting to see ~12 cards rather than 10...

    Re: [Primer] Nic Fit

All right, so I've done some maths. Currently I've just been looking at Rector triggers, since that's the core of the deck and the most complicated part.

I've been quite loose with these numbers....

    Re: [Primer] Nic Fit

I think applying restrictions to mana costs before determining how we're going to set up the mana base is going about things in the wrong order. We might end up in the same place anyway, but I don't...

    Re: [Primer] Nic Fit

Active Deathrite only shuts down Rector if they have an open green source, remember. They often don't, especially 4 colour builds.

    Re: [Primer] Nic Fit

You already have Zenith for silver bullets. If you want a tutorable planeswalker, Nissa Vastwood Seer is pretty great against a lot of decks.

I don't think more than one Nissa VF is a good idea...

    Re: [Primer] Nic Fit

Intent is only really good if you have single cards that literally end the game immediately when case, and are low in mana cost. I wouldn't run it outside of a combo style build, and even then it's...

    Re: [Primer] Nic Fit

Against BUG I'd probably be fetching Cruel Reality first, to be honest. They pretty much just lose to that card, even with Jaces. If you have Rector in hand / available to follow up with, Dovescape...

I had some success running Emrakul PE in my sideboard as a game ender against midrange/control decks like Miracles, Pile, and the mirror. I was just running Elder Deep-Fiend as a maindeck Empath...

    Re: [Primer] Nic Fit

Being able to kill a planeswalker on board is pretty important. Fetching Doves when your opponent has a resolved JTMS and you don't is pretty risky, considering that you need other cards in hand to...

Note that swapping Brutality out for spot removal makes your spell-based combo matchups significantly worse.

Sneak doesn't really want to be playing any of the dinosaurs so it hasn't really gained anything from the new releases. I imagine it's still fine, but if the new dinosaurs make Scapeshift's fair...

Have you tried the Fierce Empath / Elder Deep-Fiend BUG build? I've found it very solid, since it helps with the BUG list's usual issues of finishing the game and somewhat helps with the colours'...

Played BUG Empath again this weekend. Finished up 3-1-1 at a 22 player event, just missing out on the cut to top4 in 5th place.

    List:

    2 Bayou
    2 Tropical Island
    2 Underground Sea
    3 Forest ...

Jace also has the advantage of having major synergy with Therapy. Bouncing and Therapying people's stuff is a really relevant interaction.

Lili Veil isn't very good for us to be honest. We have a high individual card power so discarding hurts us, and we don't have cards we can recur from the yard to fuel her - Loam doesn't work well for...

I don't think any of the 4-drops in nonred builds are particularly good right now, but if you were running one I would rather have Chameleon Colossus in my 4-mana Dinosaur slot.

    Re: [Primer] Nic Fit

With Abzan you have three real options right now depending on what threats you use to finish the game:

    - Siege Rhinos. Great against aggro, mediocre against control, pretty awful against combo.
