Sticky: Poll: Re: All B/R update speculation.

I think we're unlikely to see a Legacy unban. Mind Twist seems particularly egregious in the right deck, but maybe it's what the format needs. Hymn requires double black, imagine a deck like elves...

Good Nic Fit decks play reasonable cards, the archetype just attracts a lot of people who don't really understand what is and isn't playable in the format.

Great news for you though, if the deck...

Sticky: Poll: Re: All B/R update speculation.

The DRS ban made sense to me. It was doing a lot of damage to the format in terms of the manabases it enabled. The format isn't in a great place right now, but at least mana is beginning to matter...

My perspective is that the format is currently less healthy than it was before the bans. Diversity seems to be down even further. We used to play unlimited proxy Legacy since only a couple of us...

Sticky: Poll: Re: All B/R update speculation.

I can agree there's an argument to ban fetches, but I think that doing such a thing would require an equally powerful mana fixing land be introduced to the format because the fact is, players find 3...

Sticky: Poll: Re: All B/R update speculation.

Technically, banning fetches would be admitting 10 mistakes, and would do up to $2000 in damage to each Legacy players collection value.

That's a pretty good reason to not ban them.

Your examples are a tribal card for a mostly green tribe and a bunch of green cards that generate mana. Do you really not see the difference between that and Underground Sea being the best card to...

A green creature, that has an off color activation in order to hit instants/sorceries (the main target of the GY hate ability) is very different from a black mana ramp creature that has that ability...

Being efficient does not violate the color pie. Being efficient is hardly a reason to ban something in current Legacy either. DRS was powerful, but being powerful isn't what got it banned. ...

It was a mana dork that didn't require green. Breaking the color pie is what made it too powerful. If Birds of Paradise were hybrid g/b it would get banned too.

Deathrite Shaman took one of the...

There's nothing wrong with fetchlands being powerful though, something is going to be a powerful enabler in the format.

Also, DRS wasn't banned because of fetchlands. It was banned because you...

Less shuffling makes for better coverage, that's the main point. Wizards doesn't care about the person playing Four Horsemen that's at 1-8.

Those are all bad cards, the idea of a fetch ban isn't to reduce the power level of the format, it's to eliminate shuffling. Your suggestion reduces the power level and leaves shuffling in place,...

I'm starting to come around on the idea of a fetch ban, but only if they use their new "look at the top x" cards design, and make them of a sufficient digging power to replicate a fetch. Like, look...

The biggest difference is that functional standard decks require more along the lines of 24 lands, which allowed 16 of each color, while the curves in legacy are such that fewer lands need to be...

So the question is, in a format where most decks need to play blue as one color (and this would still be the case without fetches), does two colors create more diversity than three colors presents? ...

Those strategies would certainly get more powerful than they already are, but that's also why I included Mox Diamond in the example. That goes a long way towards getting around those locks.

I would love to see the stupid 1 land splash eliminated, but that's a problem in every format where fetches are legal. It's just a side effect of what the lands do.

Removing fetches wouldn't do much. You would still have Ponder and Preordain to dig into mana fixing. On top of that, I bet Ancient Stirrings would start seeing a lot of play. All banning fetches...
