Re: Sleeves both inner and outer

I really like double matte sleeves (both front and back matte), and KMC makes a line of such sleeves called the Premium Mattes (not the same as Hyper Matte). For what it's worth, I haven't...

    Re: Esper Delver (UWB Tempo)

This archetype did well in a recent Legacy Challenge by leaning harder on Souls and completely dropping the SFM package:

    Looks pretty interesting!

    Re: [DTB] Blade Control

I myself have been wondering why the red splash isn't more popular, although to be fair I am a novice to this archetype. Pyroblast is big game!

    Re: Hour of Devastation [HOU]

This and Clique occupy totally different roles. I don't think this competes with Clique at all. Otherwise, 2U is really expensive for a Stifle, seems too slow for Legacy.

Re: GP Vegas Top 64 Decks

OK, so the counts are, modulo the two remaining unknowns:

    Delver variants (19):
    Grixis Delver 11
    BUG Delver 4
    UR Delver 2
    RUG Delver 2

    Control decks (21):
    Deathblade 5

    Re: Thalia Stompy

I've never fully understood this. Big Thalia doesn't stop Show and Tell, and they can activate Sneak Attack during our endstep to attack the following turn. I have definitely lost games to...

    Re: Thalia Stompy

Thanks for the notes, metronome! The list is interesting, but I have one concern: is Orzhov Pontiff castable with Petals instead of Diamonds?

I also 3-3'd that tournament, but I have nothing...

    Re: Thalia Stompy

I think the correct response to a matchup with that much potent hate against us is probably to concede. There's no way one extra Forsake the Worldly is going to turn that matchup around. Legacy is...

    Re: Thalia Stompy

I think Faerie is fine. It's not as good against things like Loam or Punishing Fire as Surgical is, but I think it's close enough since we close out the game reasonably quickly fast. I've tried...

    Re: Thalia Stompy

I know for a fact that Ballista is a high-impact card against Grixis from playtesting, and I'm hopeful that Ballista should do quite a lot against Elves. The Elves that matter the most are Wirewood...

    Re: Thalia Stompy

Thanks! I actually managed to win my t8 match against Storm and then lost in t4 to a novel UWR Blood Moon control deck. I made some misplays in game 3, chief among which was cycling both of my...

    Re: Thalia Stompy

One typically only sides in StP when Chalice comes out - for instance, versus fair creature decks like D+T or various BGx midrange strategies.

    Re: Thalia Stompy

I agree it's great versus TNN and Marit Lage, but this does nothing versus Griselbrand or Emrakul. If Griselbrand is in play, you've already lost. Even if they don't get a hit in, the 7-14 cards...

    Re: Thalia Stompy

Brought my proposed list with some sideboard tweaks to a small 10-person tournament today. I went 4-0-1 and we split the top 4. I beat Bant Deathblade, RUG Delver, 4c Loam, and Mono-R Sneak Attack....

    Re: Thalia Stompy

To comment on Ballista, this is something I've been testing myself, but I haven't gone to any big tournaments yet, so I've been reluctant to say too much. But since we're all talking about it...

    Re: Thalia Stompy

Having more basics doesn't help as much versus Wasteland as you might think. Our "fair game", where we don't cast TKS until turn 4 or whatever, is not even remotely powerful enough for Legacy. That...

Re: [DTB] Team America (Midrange/Control Thread)

Midrange BUG decks in Legacy have the typical property that makes people attracted to midrange decks; they don't have a ton of unwinnable matchups. It's very hard to build a deck that just beats the...

Re: [DTB] Team America (Midrange/Control Thread)

For those who play basics: how are you enjoying them? It seems unnecessary to me, especially if you're running Hierarchs, since the mana dorks make Wasteland a little worse against you, and since...

Re: [DTB] Team America (Midrange/Control Thread)

I really don't know what the correct creature suite is. I realized that if I'm moving 4 Hymn into 2 Thoughtseize + 2 Strix like I suggested in the previous post, Goyf probably gets a little worse,...

Re: [DTB] Team America (Midrange/Control Thread)

I played a list similar to wcm8's list last weekend at an EE Satellite:

    9 fetches (4 Delta, 3 Verdant, 2 Misty)
7 targets (4 Underground Sea, 2 Bayou, 1 Tropical Island)
    4 Wasteland

    4...

    Re: Thalia Stompy

One note about graveyard hate choices is that they should obviously be tailored against the metagame. If you look at recent D+T lists (e.g. https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/529528#online), the rise...

    Re: Thalia Stompy

You leave Chalice in against D+T? Vial is kind of the only 1-cmc card that really matters. On the draw, this seems especially bad.

As for the rest of the post, it is interesting, and I will have...

The point is that Jailer keeps drawing you cards even if they remove it. You stay the monarch.
