Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Interesting on Tendrils. I haven't missed playing without it, but I haven't used it in so long that I can't really judge whether I would've been better off at some point with it in the deck. You...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I like it! I'll never play with MD Tendrils again, myself. Half of the time, a pre-attack Entomb -> Shallow Grave will let you attack with Griz and Emrakul for lethal, and the other half, you find...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I mostly agree with this. I goldfished a good amount yesterday with Gemstone Caverns in place of some lands and it actually wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. However, I don't like having to choose...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Good to know. I wasn't very sure at all, which is why I phrased my comment that way. I guess if you fear Extraction or saw one in their hand you'd have to play around it somehow, but with Brainstorm...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Ooh, good question. I think that once Doomsday resolves, you won't have any cards in the yard for the opponent to mess with, so at least with Shelldock, I think it'd be hard to mess with via Surgical...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Thanks for the input! I definitely plan on learning more about Doomsday through the forums and playing it if and when I can acquire the pieces, but I just had that one question for now which you've...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I just found the Doomsday sideboard primer linked to in the first post, and I have to say it has rejuvenated my interest in the deck. I know not everyone loves transformational sideboards, but with...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Wow, I also played Tin Fins at the Open and went 6-3. My build is a little outdated and is only U/B (partly for budget reasons after selling some cards) but I was pretty happy with the deck on the...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

The only thing that concerns me about Serenity is the prevalence of Abrupt Decay, plus cards like Disenchant. And it doesn't really do anything for us against Counterbalance.

    It looks great...

Just wanted to say first off, before I disagree with a bunch of stuff, that this is a great post, so thanks.

Is your build specifically lacking in shuffle effects? I run 8 fetches and 4...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

He says Realm will help against an opponent that does not have a disruptive clock. This is probably because it can't come down until turn three at the earliest. A deck with a disruptive clock will...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I really want to go "Thought Scour you" after that play. I think I've seen it discussed before but I'm not sure that's actually a playable card. It would have to come in over Probes or Preordains if...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I don't think it's so bad. 12-post runs 7 creatures and maindecks S&T. It's just another option to get a guy in play and if your opponent mulls to graveyard hate, you'll probably have some time to...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

The reason I ask is, like I said, unless you're S&Ting Griz into play, your Pact protection will probably kill you next turn. And even then, it's hard to go off the same turn you S&T Griz into play...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Three mana is tough to get to, but City of Solitude could be a solid sideboard card. I probably wouldn't bring it in against a deck with Wastelands though.

What I mean about "optimal" sideboards...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I don't think there ever is an "optimal" sideboard, is there? Though with this deck the opponents' hate is pretty obvious so maybe we can come close. If I'm running green, would Ground Seal be a...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I think you all are right that siding out Tendrils is better than Emrakul. The only thing that makes me wary of doing so is that if I need a Griselbrand attack to draw 7 more cards in search of a...

Richard Cheese - New primer is killer!

It made me consider my sideboarding at SCG Indy. I would bring Emrakul out a lot just to make space for sideboard cards, which I think is fine since you...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

    Thanks!

I figured that the lack of Silence and existence of S&T and Decay would be questioned. I don't think Silence would be bad as a 1-2 of, but I wouldn't know what to cut. Don't want to cut a...

O gawd. Well, I just posted a super-long report and then lost it, so if anyone knows where to find posts that were supposedly "Saving" as I typed, let me know. Long story short, I went 6-2-1 at SCG...

Is this still a decent deck to bring to Indy? I'm worried about the added exposure just like everyone else, but I still think a lot of decks will try to just bring in three Surgical Extractions...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

    Hi everyone!

I too hail from Carsten Kotter's SCG article, which I basically stopped reading after he posted this deck. I'd known about Tin Fins from before but was skeptical. Trying it out on...
