Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

If everyone is extremely worried about Hulk-Flash, I would advocate the following changes to my list:

    Current Pikula:

    4 Dark Confidant
    3 Nantuko Shade
    3 Hypnotic Specter
    2 Jotun Grunt
    2...

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

Engineered plague hoses the deck as bad as leyline does (set to cleric to nail disciple). Leylines could work, too. I suspect that pithing needle on ravager works pretty well, too.

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

I'll go ahead and release the build I've been working on since it looks like I've shored up all the cards I need for my combo deck:

    Pikula:

    4 Dark Confidant
    3 Nantuko Shade
    3 Hypnotic Specter...

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

I don't like double posting, but I have a few more comments to add since I have done some testing.

I've found that sinkhole is not good enough against IGG and TES. I'm changing them for Null Rods...

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

@blackgaurd - Yes, it does appear to be a great choice. The problems I am having with this deck is consistency. Mistakes on my part kept me out of the top 8 at Gencon with this deck, and I'm...

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

Yes, but often times you still need it turn 2. Further, if you are a very good player and can think turns out in advance, chrome mox should be a better card for you than lotus petal. True, nobody...

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

@ humingbird: I like chrome mox...turns 6++ you usually have a dead duress / hymn in your hand if you are doing your job anyways.

To find room for the 23rd mana source, I think that -1 cabal...

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

If you really want to go towards dystopia in the sideboard, you need to drop the number of white creatures significantly.
Thresh usually plays with no more than 2 creatures out. Fish usually hits...

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

to fit the duress in, your list anti-american, I would cut the following:

1 hypnotic specter (redundency of discard)
1 Phyrexian Arena (6 card drawers is the right number in my opinion)
    1 Jotun...

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

@humingbird: not necessarily...the point is to get to a critical mass of acceleration. It takes approximately 8 cards with the same effect to consistently have 1 in your opening 7. The problem with...

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

I think that we are trying to turn this deck into a b/w control deck with cheap cards so that we don't die from our bob. While I do agree that this is possible, I don't think that this is the right...

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

I guess to have a good point of reference, my build for gencon was the following:

    4 Dark Confidant
    3 Nantuko Shade
    3 Hypnotic Specter
    2 Withered Wretch

2 Sword of Fire and Ice
    2 Cursed...

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

I think its about time that someone responds to some pretty bold claims there. Number 1: Hypnotic Specter is not a good late-game card against non-blue, non-combo decks. Why? Because a 2/2 for 3...

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

well, if you choose to run jitte, black knight may be better than hand of cruelty. Something to note, however, is the fact that hand of cruelty does not die in combat to any 2/2 and can take down...

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

    @rsaunder

I think the primary reason why you are so against turn 1 hippy is the sheer amount of 2 drop land destruction you run. If you want to run 16 land destruction spells (including 2 that...

@rsaunder - I tested and tested and tested smallpox and I absolutely love the card. It made a lot of my matchups better, but it did not help the problem I was having with the tier 1 decks. Sure,...

While black night "MAY" be better than engineered plague against non-goblin decks, I still feel that there is no better card that you can put in your deck than engineered plague to beat goblins.

I have played this deck for a while. I have posted several times on other sites about this deck and I think that the people on this forum are heading closer to the right direction.

    While smallpox...
