Your manabase in your deck with 12 UU spells and no cantrips should be:
4 Wasteland
4 Mutavault
16 Island
You don't need Cavern of Souls because you aren't losing to counter-magic.
...
I tend to keep one or two forces in against Zoo, to ensure I have more ways to stop Grim Lavamancer than they have Lavamancers. However, with the printing of Dismember this probably isn't...
Personally I went to 22 lands (14/4/4) and never looked back.
Bingo. You can't consider running Standstill because the card is terrible in the mirror.
For those that have been running maindeck Kira, do you still think it's necessary post Misstep? I'm finding that I would rather have some other card instead in that slot now, such as more lords,...
I know that those cards are great. Vague card ideas do not constitute a plan. That's like answering the question, "What deck should I play?" with "Force of Will and Tarmogoyf are both good cards."
So what are people's plans (in the 75) for the mirror?
Kira also generally beats for 4-6 damage.
Most people rarely play against competent dredge players. This is an idea that gets thrown around for a lot of decks, but it's far more often the case with dredge. I've run dredge a few times...

I've been thinking about this question. Testing has shown that Goblins is now complete crap against the field, and eminently winnable for Merfolk. Zoo continues to lose ground.
Affinity comes to...
The notion that Mental Misstep is somehow bad against Zoo because of losing two life is a fallacioius line of thinking. Every 1cc card in Zoo besides Path to Exile is worth more than two damage...
I've had a lot of success running Mind Harness against zoo. I generally bring in six to eight cards. Between those and Submerge, and keeping my Forces of Will in, I can often tempo the opponent...
Mental Misstep makes us even more able to just tempo people out of the game, and in this regard Standstill might seem like a poor choice. Following this logic is a perfectly valid route to take the...
Adding a land cannot possibly make a manabase worse.
Some of us have been playing Legacy for more than the past six months. If deckcheck were still around, I could regale you with an assortment of lists featuring Factory.
You misunderstand; perhaps you haven't seen very many successful merfolk lists. Running a fifth manland is a very common play, and Mishra's Factory is the only realistic option. This let's you...
I guess my question is why haven't you guys been playing Clone, then?
I think I'd find room for a Mishra's Factory in that list, Horsy.
Not sure how it hits Vial. The card is still blue, so it can't be played against Iona or Llawan
I'd like to point out that Mental Misstep is a lot better in Standstill lists than in those...
Back to Basics seems pretty terrible when people are already fetching basic lands against you. It also seems painfully slow, since it generally has no immediate impact on the board. I had three in...
Try different approaches to using your counters. Sometimes it's correct to counter Tops and Brainstorms, sometimes it's not so much. Jace isn't really a threat unless you have no board and are in...
I don't really see how anything is better than Energy Flux against affinity.
Kira would be great against zoo if the only reason they beat us was because they removed all of our guys. However, they also play these cards:
Wild Nacatle
Steppe Lynx*
Grim Lavamancer...
In my experience Kira is only good against control. This may seem counter-intuitive, but keep it in mind next time you play with Kira.
