    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Ended 4-2 for 9th place at a local running two swan song main and two board. Didn't cast it once, but it would have protected my lord to ensure victory.

Beat every blue opponent, lost to the...

No, the pierces as I mentioned. Daze is by and far too essential to cut in my opinion.

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

I'm really excited for swan song in Merfolk, probably over the spell pierces main. Having an answer for swords without having to force it is a huge plus to having less soft counters against combo....

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

It will only be a creature when you have creatures already on the field in which case I'd rather it be a merfolk. If it's not a creature then it is a worse sensei's divining top. Merfolk isn't...

Have you considered the old reanimator tech of Waterfront bouncer? Not diluting your deck is awesome (It is in fact a merfolk these days)

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

You forgot the part where it allows you to swing with a creature which, if blocked, trades with the blocker almost always and profitably without reducing the lord count on board or costing you a card.

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

There are sacred cows in the deck. 4 Silvergill, at least up to the third of the following: Force, Daze, Vial. There isn't a good reason to go to 2 copies of any one of those.
    As for redundant...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Unless there are other decks with a bunch of blue creatures in the next month, just run jitte. Llawan is overkill

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

As much as I can see it being useful, running dismember just seems better: Deals with bigger things without a splash.
The life loss is often irrelevant, since once this deck loses board position it...

If I was going to play that game, I think the creature serves the most purpose while still providing the utility

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Let me rank the fish in order from best to worst.

    1) Silvergill adept
Cheap? Check. Cantrips? Check. Once it hits, basically can swing without a care? Check.

    2) Rejerrey
    Lord + Psuedo...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

I agree with everything you said, minus LoA plus Silvergill.

Why the hell are people discussing cutting the lord that shines in the harder matchups?

    Re: [DTB] Merfolk

But that is just considering your deck in a vacuum as opposed to evaluating the card in the meta. Are there better cards right now?

Waterfront bouncer should be good against that while still being a merfolk. Spell pierce out of the board is probably your best bet

    Re: [DTB] Merfolk

In response to the goblin matchup, I'm seeing more goblins players run Tin street Hooligan main again. I'm not so sure I'd want my game plan against them to be holding on to an artifact.

RUG thresh can be difficult, but they don't always have the threats they need to seal the deal. Sure burn and lavamancer are bad, but vial and kira work wonders. Confidant may be great in control...

It looks like you had no bad matchups, and only seeing one creature in the mirror makes me question your mulliganing decisions. If I had to put confidant main, which I don't believe to be necessary...

    Re: [DTB] Merfolk

I don't entirely agree with this. You can do the math and realize that the counteralpha strike won't be enough for lethal sometimes, and you can just kill them in 2 attack steps. But yeah, it is the...

His post was shorthand for "Don't die while you resolve Llawan, start activating jitte, or setting up an uneven exchange with e truth". I think that constitutes a game plan, especially in a deck that...

What do you care about turn 1? If you are so worried about Nacatl that you are main decking MM, then you probably should be playing combo. Even if you wanted MM main, daze is NOT the card you take...

That's a fair assessment, I pretty much refuse to drop it unless they have tapped out for something, but even then upon reflection perhaps it is a bit win more. (My meta has lands/affinity right now,...
