    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Copter is great for recovering from a wipe. You shouldn't overcommit into a wipe anyway and such have *something* left over in hand to start applying pressure immediately instead of having to wait a...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

The issue I found with Chart was that there's a limit to how many 2-mana cards that don't advance the board you can get away with, and chalice pretty much uses all of those slots. It's super...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

That effect already existed in Carry Away, and it was bad. Adding yet another way for flickerwisp to blow us out sky high is not where we want to be.

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Pretty much just an MTGO price thing. I don't really want to get them now when EMA is coming down soon enough. Against miracles the factories are awesome and significantly better than wastelands. ...

spankyourmonkey: I've been extremely pleased with Warping Wail, so much so that I run 3 maindeck. It's so very flexible and all 3 modes (yes, even the scion) have been very very relevant.

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Against D&T, Counterspells are generally bad (though leaving in 2 forces is okayish), and cursecatchers barely has a text box.

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

So FANAttIC, what would you say is the best card in the deck? I can totally buy either Chalice or Cavern and amend my view to "PI is the best *creature* in the deck". I can't imagine (heh) PI not...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Phantasmal Image is the best card in the deck and if you're playing less than 3 you are doing it very very wrong. Yes, it is better than TNN. TNN is just TNN, but PI can be *anything*.

    In the...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Unless your meta is such that you just can't dodge entrantress, I'd just ignore it. I wish I could have done the same with D&T, but if I did well I'd be nearly guaranteed to play against our...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Really the best thing against D&T is to just dodge it as best as you can. I used to play with the SCG kansas city champ a lot and tried basically everything against him. Dismember, echoing truth,...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Well, we have vials to instant-speed it, and at 3 mana it's late enough in the game that often you can just bounce anything and then win on the spot when you untap, with an extra body to boot. For a...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

if it was 1UU I'd expect no less than a merfolk Aether Adept.

Something I've been trying out in my build the last few weeks is Muddle The Mixture. In the fair matchups it's mostly a tutor with...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

It's really not that cut and dry anymore. We're actually the worst vial deck at using vial. Goblins has a nice steady stream of CA to keep vial busy (it's also the most crippled by not having a...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Yeesssss! I finally managed to 4-0 locally, though I did get real lucky with matchups. My deck:

    Creatures(28)
    4 cursecatcher
    3 tidal warrior
    4 silvergill adept
4 master of the pearl trident...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

I don't think that comparison is really valid. DRS lategame often represents a 5-8 turn clock on his own (since the bins should have plenty of instant/sorcery by then), but an extra vial needs...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Yeah, I figure sygg is overall better, but puresight does have an advantage of having an extra power and its ability is an untap so it can be defensive too, and most importantly, not being legendary....

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

I've been looking through gatherer for unusual card advantage/quality options:

    Ancestral Vision
    - sooo slooow. I would hope we already won, but one of the reasons we want CA in the first place...
