Blood Moon is vastly superior to B2B, but I understand your point.

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Well, if you guys want a color to run, Red is best choice IMO.

Blood Moon screws those weird decks with greedy mana bases. Barely impacts you since you run Vial.

It is more forgivable, but you lack tutors to go get that Bob to abuse him. On a quick glance, looks like the list ran black for E.Plague, but there aren't many tribal decks to use it on.

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

But why go two colors for a vial deck when I can go one color and get SFM and Karakas?

When I think of "the" anti-blue deck, I used to think Merfolk. But things have changed and splashing a color...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

The counter example is fine, but would this work on a mass scale in the current meta? Note that this is pre-DnT. I would not take that list to a DnT meta. In fact, I think DnT is the superior vial...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Why play bob. Just splash black and be a noob with SFM equipping TNN. Why play Merfolk at this point though? Just play a True Blade deck and win.

I've never seen a Merfolk deck that splashed...

It's still a good choice against non-merfolk TNN users. Black has other things like Toxic Deluge anyways to handle TNN.

Fish is pretty good when you don't have to worry about Supreme Verdict. An uncounterable board wipe combined with masses of angels makes one quite sad. :(

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Destabilizing you mana base just for Bolt seems bad when you can just run Dismember and keep the stable mana base.

You can also cast Dismember with colorless mana. You never have to worry about...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

I agree. You want to maximize the number of lords and not durddle too much. You should be stalling the player a bit, dropping things to ensure your merfolk land, and then smash face with powered up...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

My bad, didn't notice the Brainstorms.

As for the Wasteland comment, Wasting a Cavern isn't the same as wasting a dual. Wasting a cavern might set you back in mana count, but having a dual wasted...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

You have room for non-merfolk? Why are you mixing colors? We already have 4 Wastelands and some number of Caverns/Mutas. RuG is one of the most popular decks and being able to drop TNN counter free...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Does Merfolk have issues with Supreme Verdict and Terminus? The former ignores 90% of Merfolk disruption and the later is cheap enough to just be casted through our disruption.

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

You would think that trying to add the best blue card to Merfolk would be a good move... but that isn't quite the case.

Why is that? Is ti because Merfolk is already redundant enough? Lack of...

4 Standstills out of 60 cards = 6.67% part of the deck contains that card.

Batterskull is supposedly pretty decent with Stoneforge Mystic: mystic can drop it for 2 mana and get you a 4/4 w/ lifelink and vigilance. If you try to remove the Batterskull, it can bounce itself...
