    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

Firecraft is pretty good, even without countertop around the card packs a strong amount of power for one card. You don't always want raw efficiency, sometimes you just want the maximum possible...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

That's a legitimate criticism. But, haste does go a long ways towards being able to cast something when you have an opening to get damage in. I think it's fair to look at the minimum damage as 2...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

I've used it for months as a 1-2 of. It works well in certain matchups. It was great against Miracles (not that that matters much anymore), and great against Storm, on the play. Usually good for...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

You're all going to think I'm insane, but I would recommend Scab-Clan Berserkers. A big removal filled deck that can get rid of them just disappeared, and being able to pair them and Eidolons gives...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

Sounds like an excellent card. I think it hits pretty much everyone. Fetchlands, Tops, DRS, Jitte, Vial, SFM, and more. Lots to like here.

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

It doesn't. Your creatures need some guaranteed damage. That's why even Lavamancer is so fringe. Guide and Swiftspear work because they have haste, Eidolon works because it has pseudohaste (it's...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

Why would it kill the deck? I don't think it does anything to the deck. At it's worst it's a 3 mana card that doesn't effect the board, and gains the opponent 3 life.

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

Been pondering Burn off and on for the last few months. I think I've come up with a breakthrough for my AI based deck building approach. I don't know when I'll have the time to actually build it...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

My experience has been that even if you pump a Swiftspear to a 4/5, they'll simply chump it if necessary. Most Eldrazi players leave a blocker back against Burn and that doesn't really get you...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

I find the idea of casting things into Chalice to pump Swiftspear to not come up very often, if ever, and less often will the creature ever connect. Instead I would rather get in that extra point of...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

I agree with this, except Swiftspear before Guide. The only creature that I think really pulls it's weight in the matchup is Lavamancer.

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

Played 4 rounds tonight, same build, went 3-1 Saw the Berserker a bunch so it was a good evaluation.

    Played against 2x Miracles (1-2, 2-1), 1x Show and Tell (2-0), 1x Shardless (2-1). Cast...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

I wanted to put this to the test. Burn hasn't come up in my league yet but it will (we each get 2 decks we swap week to week before pairings) once I get some testing in with my other deck that has...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

More than 21. I'm actually playing 25. I know there's a lot of resistance to that many lands, but it's working for me. Perhaps looking at the list you can figure out what you can cut.

    Land 25...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

I already run more mana than most people.

For what it's worth, I'm probably going to try it out in a 10 week paper league soon, which is basically going to be prep for Louisville since I would...

This is going to sound completely off the wall, but has anyone ever tried Scab-Clan Berserker? For the past couple months I've been thinking about what my simulator showed (no, I won't be posting a...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

Merfolk is a matchup where you need to burn some creatures. Because they're all lords, their board presence grows exponentially. Killing the first lord will save you a full turn on the race but you...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

D&T probably helps us. They're a fair deck that has pretty good matchups against our bad matches. At the same time though, we tend to have a pretty good matchup against D&T. The games are a little...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

I know I try some weird stuff, but your deck is too far out there for me. The goal of a deck like Burn is to kill on the fastest turn possible, and spending your turn doing something like Faithless...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

Added a new card to the card pool today, Forgotten Cave. On first glance this isn't really something Burn is interested in because we don't want to use CIPT lands, but I'm always on the look out for...

His other posts came to different conclusions on land. Most notably, once he got away from a linear system of 1 mana 2/x, 2 mana 4/x, 3 mana 6/x. In that situation a mix of 1 and 2 drops actually...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Burn

A few more results, I wanted to get a large amount of data in with the AI so I ran a 100,000 game set while I slept last night.

It had an average game length of 4.678 turns.

    Turns games ended...
