Any of you guys attending EW and playing MUD? I'll be there but haven't decided on my deck. MUD seems great if the fields leans towards combo and the Blue midrange/control stuff that's been popular...
Still unsure why people are saying MUD is bad against combo. Lodestone, Chalice, Trinisphere/Thorn, Wasteland, and a fast clock is about as good of a non-BUG combo gameplan as you can ask for.
...
Someone on reddit said, basically, the same thing, which is shocking to me. Sure, we're not a Force of Will deck, but as long as we don't get turn 1'd, we have access to Lodestone, Chalice, Thorn,...
So, my gut feeling is that MUD will be a solid choice while the meta's in flux over the next month or two, because:
1) Post ban, it's always good to do something proactive and powerful
2) There's...
This has been my experience as well. We could just wait out the Ports (or Tsabo’s Web them), but as Wastelands 5-8, GQ is pretty brutal.
Spyglass hugely helpful, though, as a Needle that’s much...
Interesting to hear everyone trimming down on Trinisphere; I've been liking it less lately, too. It's tempting to replace them with MD Thorn, though I'm apprehensive about taxing our own Ugins. He's...
Grixis Delver:
- I think this is pretty close to 50/50. Our plan is very effective against them, but they're waaaayyyy more consistent than us. In practice, that means that 1) it's easy for us to...
Interesting to hear that people are so down on Titan - he's consistently been my best tinker bot, and at times I've played 2. While the land destruction doesn't automatically catch you up, a 7/10...
Fuck yeah. It makes me genuinely happy to see MUD doing well lately. Some quick thoughts:
- I like that he's switched his 3rd Trinisphere for a Spyglass.
- Blightsteel has been a constant in recent...
Agreed, though going down to 2 Caverns is also an option. Depends on your meta. Either way, agreed on Fair - it's a perfect singleton for this deck.
It's pretty spicy, and seems worth trying if you were playing Staff of Nin. However, Ugin is one of the best things MUD can do, and this shuts him off.
With EW out of the way I'm back to testing jank, so last night I played MUD with 3 maindeck Spyglass. Went 1-3 and wasn't that impressed with Spyglass. It won me a match against Maverick by shutting...
MUD top 4’d a Classic this weekend. Maybe the deck’s not as poorly positioned as I thought...
Quick takeaways:
- Mox Diamond
- Darksteel Citadel
- No Posts
- Sweltering Suns?!? That can’t be...
What a hero. Definitely lots of ideas I'd like to try out:
- As you mentioned, no Wastelands is interesting, especially given what he replaced them with. Petrified Field and Stage are awesome...
I can't say if Spyglass is a better maindeck option than Revoker, but certainly seems better than Needle as a sideboard choice. The aforementioned Spyglass > name the fetch in their hand seems like...
I got to test this list last night, so quick update for those of you who might have been interested in it: I don't recommend it. Basically, the deck felt like worse/slower Eldrazi. It didn't have any...
Cool list, Silverflame! Happy to hear the Mirror is working out.

As I've complained about ad nauseum, my local meta has been pretty heavily fair/BGx/midrange for a while now. I've found that...
Interesting! I tried Ballista for a few weeks when it first came out and didn't like it, but I recently put 3 back in the deck to try (have been playing Maverick so I haven't done said testing yet)....
Cool list, Bobomb! Looks like a nice midpoint between Stax and traditional MUD lists.
I don't see much reason you shouldn't run Lodestone in the main. Feels like it could easily replace Scrap...
Thanks for posting that list, P210 - that deck is insane and I kinda love it. Maindeck Crucible is sweet and makes Crystal Vein more playable, and while I'm not a fan of maindeck Bridge in more...
Cheers Nimkee. Obviously I'm not a mod and it's not up to me what gets posted in this thread. In my opinion, Metalworker MUD plays differently enough from Big Eldrazi, Legends MUD, and Colorless...
Nice run, Nimkee! However, the Big Eldrazi thread might be a more productive place for that report.
Well, fortunately you'll never have this happen again.
So the Miracles ban is pretty interesting for MUD. If you're of the opinion that MUD's a Miracles crusher, the ban probably feels bad. BGx...
This interests me. Can you post your list? I cut Thorns etc from my board a while ago, because I found I needed extra space for cards for fair matchups.

Also, this list intrigues the hell out...
List looks great! Dynamo is a great addition. I'd personally swap the Blightsteel and Spine, but that's a matter of taste.
Good luck at Worcester! If I still lived in Boston I'd be there.
