Absolutely. The Wasteland-Stifle-Daze plan is obviously much stronger game 1 if your opponent does not know what deck you're playing. Then again, similar arguments can be made for most decks, I guess.

I'm still confused. You're saying Dark Depths is sacrificed as the triggered ability is put on the stack? And then, when a player receives priority and successfully counters the triggered ability...
