Now to decide on Twin or Affinity...
I see 2 sides regarding Frantic Search. I agree that it may be a safe unban, but at the same time I don't want to keep adding more powerful blue stuff to Legacy.
I get that blue is the best...
I feel the same way. It seems like if you know your decklist inside and out, you can show up to a tournament with 1 of 10 different decks and have a solid shot of winning.
This part intrigued me most about this thread. Is this true? Why won't Wizards use Flashback again? I love that mechanic.
Quick sideboarding question... looking at the main deck of the top 8 deck at SCG recently, what do you board out to bring Chalice in?
I love the idea of using Ancient Tomb to power out a turn 1...
Sleeved up UR Delver and am running it for the first time tonight in a weekly event that usually sees 8-14 players. The shop is very combo heavy, so I'm wondering what changes you would make to the...
I think SCG's test run of dropping Legacy on a few Sundays this year is one of the first tangible signs we have of the format slowing down.
As a disclaimer, I love both Legacy and Modern. I like...
Congrats Bryant! Loved the Grapeshot kill.
Mods: DTB yet??
I second that entire statement. Are they format warping and therefore ban worthy? Probably not. Are they fun to play with or play against? Usually not.
Picking up some KMC Matte sleeves. Do they change their style of sleeves often like Ultra Pro does? I've been burnt a couple times trying to buy the "same" Ultra Pro matte sleeves but there is...
I don't mean to derail this, but with Blood Moon out non-basics become Non-Basic Mountains (for Price of Progress purposes)? If so I never knew that.. I always assumed Blood Moon/Magus turned off...
So you play once or twice a week and you don't consider yourself "well practiced" anymore? Damn. I played about once a week on average at the height of my playtime. Now I average once every couple...
To answer the OP, initial skyrocket as competitive Standard players 1) prepare for the new meta and 2) Make their deck pretty with Onslaught fetches.
After a few months the cost of both the old...
I took a stock mono-blue list to a local tourney last night, 12 players total I think. Went 2-2 losing to Storm and Nic Fit. Storm I need to learn how to play against better when I'm the control...
Don't worry, I never would have thought to do that without reading this last page either. Ad Nauseum being an Instant sure is fun.
Thanks lochlan and Koby. It makes more sense now.
I guess I had the initial interaction wrong then.. I thought you could use LED to pay the cost of a spell that you announce. Guess that isn't...
Acquired the necessary cards for this deck recently and have been goldfish testing to get a feel for which Wish targets to use and when.
Quick rules question with the deck. I understand the...
Really good article, well done!
Would love to see the top-table analysis round by round for some of the larger tournaments. I know it is a shitload of data to collect and crunch, but I love that...
With Elves now becoming a prominent deck, having the 1 card that shuts down a top deck seems perfect in my book.
I see some lists cutting Warchief. What is the rationale here? I grant you that he is one of my sacred cows that I'd never cut even 1 of, but since I see people doing it I'm curious why. I'm open...
I wish I shared your enthusiasm, but testing and actual tournament play didn't pan out as bright as that.
On the draw:
Him Turn 1, Fetch, Bayou, Shaman, Go.
Me: Mountain, Vial, Go.
Him...
Ran a very standard Goblin list at SCG Columbus this past weekend. Saw lots of BUG and Jund. How does Goblins beat a turn 1 Deathrite Shaman? Usually I like seeing Lackeys in my opening hand, but...
Been using this with a friend lately. Very happy with the application. Only thing I need is some bigger display or alert when an opponent disconnects. Went through one of my turns yesterday and...
Thanks for putting this type of info together. Helps to analyze what key pieces are used and can be re-used in other decks.
On the opposite spectrum of what this post is after, I wonder what the...
Who's going to this? I should be able to climb out of my cave and sling some cards for the first time in a couple years. Will probably have +2 guys for the tournament who are traveling into town.
