Re: [Deck] TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I disagree quite strongly, this is where our SB shines. People are overloaded on cheap GY interaction, which gets squashed by Mentor easily. Even if they know about the plan from prior knowledge or...

Re: [Deck] TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Had a pretty fun time with Tin Fins today at a monthly tournament some friends and myself have started in London, this was the first one. 30 players.

    Round 1 vs BUG Aluren

    G1 comboed fairly...

Re: [Deck] TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

If you're playing Recruiter of the Guard, you could play something like Devout Witness or Leonin-Relic Warder as a target over one of the reactive cards? Downsides, Relic-Warder is very tough on the...

Re: [Deck] TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I've tried Bob in the past and didn't like at all, as Aclimation says it's slow and doesn't impact the board. Mentor is exactly what the deck wants, hard to interact with and closes the game quickly....

Re: [Deck] TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Our playgroup had a sweet early Xmas Vintage/Legacy weekend, got a bit too drunk on Saturday after Vintage so threw together Tin Fins in true hungover fashion for the Sunday. I didn't know how much I...

Re: [Deck] TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Agree on both the second Reanimate and LDV.

Reanimate is great with the Mentor plan too, as well as helping combo with Children like Waveboy124 says. Two seems like a sweet spot.

    LDV was poor...

Re: [Deck] TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I do see the appeal of having Mentors/SfM G1, but isn't the main idea that they'll be siding out removal and we get to run rampant? And then make them guess for G3. I shuffled my SB into the MD...

Re: [Deck] TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I played phazonmutants list at my LGS last night and went 3-1 losing the last round, just -1 Reanimate +1 Chrome Mox simply because I couldn't find another Reanimate and I've always liked the Mox....

Re: [Deck] TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Makes sense, thanks. In the past I've assumed they'd take out Swords to Plowshares and Jitte as they're so weak vs the MD, so Mentor would be left to run rampant.

Re: [Deck] TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

How do you guys sideboard v DnT? Specifically on the draw? I've had people leave in StP vs me in the past because 'they had so many worse cards to take out', which is a little frustrating when I...

Re: [Deck] TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Yeah, I can't imagine trying to board into a slower/controlling build would ever work. SnT could be a reasonable avenue if you played more than 2 Griseldaddy and Emmy, but that comes with a lot of...

Re: [Deck] TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Makes sense. And what about SDTs? LDV was one of the cards I considered as an option to side out, but wasn't sure. Maybe with the SDTs as well as the blue cantrips finding a mentor/chain would be...

Re: [Deck] TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Thanks to .dks awesome finish and report (mostly the hilarious report to be honest) I've almost finished putting this together. I've played almost exclusively fair decks for the past 2 or 3 years so...

Re: [Deck] TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Awesome report and nice finish. I've not played an unfair deck in a couple of years and I'm close to ordering some g-daddies! Sacrificing children has gotta be a bunch of fun too.
