Also don't forget he's got a multitude of abilities, his dream cache just being one of many. Having options (aka swiss army knives) is a good thing, even if you're going to spend most of his loyalty...

Why not? Old jace reads: Spend two turns drawing an extra card and one turn doing absolutely nothing. New Jace could read (if the ability is -1): Spend two turns going through your deck and drawing...

If the impulse (since you can put cards on the bottom too) costs -1 I'm gonna kick both my fofs and my old jace out of my deck and play two of these guys, plus something cool in the 3rd slot.

Spending 5 mana each turn? In a deck that runs counterspell, FoF and a buttload of other EOT cards?

So you actually board in negate against zoo? I bring in 2 or 3 paths (depending on how many are in my sideboard) and 2 ajani goldmane and that's about it, often boarding out jace and counterspells.

Holy shit that has to be one of the coolest lists I've ever seen :laugh: I'd never play this, but power to you for being cutting edge.
And to stay on-topic: Wouldn't like from the loam be a good...

Anything that improves your lategame > planeswalkers (I still want to try out that 'Left Field tech' Liliana), crucibles etc.

I'd reckon most goblin pilots would board out incinerators as well :)

Is there a reason to *not* side him in vs goblins? You could get rid of jace and some counterspells, board in paths as well and your matchup looks very favourable.

You can keep using him, which means your opponent usually just doesn't declare attacks at all because you'll just grab a random dude and block with it, and do it again next turn.
That's how I use...

Rock, aggroloam, goblins. I used to bring them in against zoo as well, together with some Ajani's and paths but I figured I'd rather have a high permission-count instead of a lightning-rod.

Just a heads-up, when Geoff first came up with the idea of running Preachers I added three to my sideboard as well, to say how they'd play out (and because the card is cool) and I haven't looked back...

Went a modest 3-3 today in an 48-man, Beating zoo, Rock and some goblin/sligh homebrew, losing to faeries and twice to Ichorid. Some random thoughts:

I'm not trying to play devil's advocate here, but why don't you post some results instead? I don't always agree with the choices Mossivo makes, but at least he's got results to back them up.

I honestly don't think Rock should be a real problem, especially if they're not running loam, since you have all the CA you need to answer everything in a long game which it will most likely become...

On the subject of Disk, I recently cut mine from my list because it just sucked ass most of the time so that's +1 for the 'boo for disk' camp.

If you mean that you blow your top (sweet jesus) and make it flee to the top of your deck in response to nab the two cards, I'm afraid the spell will fizzle because all of its targets will be gone...

Nah don't :D At least it's more fun to read than 20 decklists on each page. It was a bit on the short side (I dunno about any of you guys but I like the random shit that people tend to put in there)...
