Re: Legacy playables from recent sets

Guilds of Ravnica was released in October. This thread is from July.

    Re: [Primer/Deck] High Tide

I've been toying a lot with my list and trying to test it against some of the more popular decks; only against myself, though, so I don't put too much weight on the results. Getting back into the...

    Re: Wintergreen

Deck looks really fun. I definitely want to try it out. I think a black splash could be worth it, mostly for good removal options like Deluge or Decay, but it also gives Collective Brutality. ...

    Re: GP Birmingham discussion

I woke up early to watch this, but I am already done with it. Watching the same deck/45 cards round after round gets boring. That's probably why at 5 am PST there were over 12,000 viewers and now it...

Re: Is there a way make Foil or Thwart playable?

Yeah the deck pays the cost of it pretty well, but you're still losing three cards. Even though it can cancel out the loss of cards throughout the game, the one time disadvantage probably isn't...

Re: Is there a way make Foil or Thwart playable?

I made up a few crappy lists after spending way too much time trying to make a deck with Entombs, Thirst for Knowledge, Foils, Intuition, Snapcasters, and Torrential Gearhulks work. I was intrigued...

    Re: [Portland Legacy] WTF

Thanks for the info. I am glad the scene has developed and gotten so popular. I remember Portland struggling to keep a store supporting tournaments and there were only a handful of truly...

    Re: [Portland Legacy] WTF

Awesome! That's really good to hear. It has been a while since I have played anything, but I am really happy to hear Portland has a shop to go to. Thank you for the info and hopefully I get to...

Goodness it has been a while since this thread was active. Sorry for the necro. I know the Portland scene has definitely grown, but I figured I would revive this instead of starting a new post. I...

Sticky: Poll: Re: All B/R update speculation.

Of course. Deathrite has a ton of benefits. However, the mana acceleration aspect of it, which is the number one use, can be made up in other ways that green has to offer. Obviously, it hurts...

Sticky: Poll: Re: All B/R update speculation.

I'm pretty sure Maverick can operate fine without Deathrite. It has replacements. The deck tapping Underground Sea for their BoP won't have any alternatives.
  12. Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices, Buyouts and Reprints Thread

    Thank you, ESG!

Haha I have no idea why it would be there. I haven’t updated it in a long time. I had started adding whatever random stuff I saw from mtgtop8 and threads here, so it had to of...

Sticky: Poll: Re: All B/R update speculation.

There have been a few mistakes printed and I think the format would be healthier without them.

Cool, glad we see the problem with the card.

It wouldn't hurt the "other shit decks". No...
  14. Re: [Official] Bitching About Prices, Buyouts and Reprints Thread

I'm getting back into the game and I've been putting together a couple decks. Prices are pretty bad, as most of you are aware. I made a spreadsheet a couple years ago of all staples and playables...

Way back before Goyf it was one of the top decks, if not the top deck. http://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=108&f=LE

That's why I said those creatures should be banned as well.

Well that isn't true at all. Zoo was a big player after Shard of Alara came out. It only went downhill when Delver and Stoneforge...

Sticky: Poll: Re: All B/R update speculation.

Well considering how popular Modern is, I don't think that would be a bad thing.

Anyway, "turn-creatures-sideways.dec" was a DtB since this format started. The most efficient and powerful...

Sticky: Poll: Re: All B/R update speculation.

I think Zoo being viable is a good measurement of a healthy format. Sadly, blue was given a better Wild Nacatl, an unremovable wall/finisher, and a Llanowar elf that gains them life/helps them...

There should be a new poll.

Ban Brainstorm, Delver, TNN, and Deathrite, IMO. Get rid of enough things to make Zoo a playable strategy and then you’re good.
