I guess you made this before tarmogoyf was released. He is the creature of choice in most aggro control lists now. Check out some of the current threshold lists to see how they utilize him.

On the mention of Stifle
Q: Why isn't there a BU deck using stifle + sinkhole + wasteland as a mana denial strategy? And if not wasteland, just stifle and sinkhole. Are the color requirements too...
so are we trying to break lich's mirror or barren glory now lol?
End of your opponents turn:
Academy rector on board+ kaervek's spite = barren glory win during next upkeep.
YES, i have a vintage tourney in october and i would pilot a halls/spiral list if someone could come up with a decent one.
Sins was only there primarily for desire, i think bloom is nearly an absolute...I want to take a look at these storm boards :(
Wheres the blooms and sins of the past??
actually gooba said that he switched back to the 1/1 split with wipe away and rushing river.
The 1 basic island helped a ton for me, if they dont get a turn 1 moon or chalice at 1, you will have...
played thrash at gencon, i top 4ed the first prelim with a fairly stock list with a slight tweak
i took the stock thrash list and did this
-1 wipe away
+1 island
board was
4 tormod's crypt...
I played UGR Thrash for the legacy events, I top 4-ed the first prelim losing to zohar with his landstill build who eventually pulled down the first set of byes
champs rd 1 - red landstill (team...
in the mirror (thrash v c/b thresh) you just have to impede their development, stick an early goyf and try to win asap, then use your burn to finish them off.
Ill be there but im not bringing my laptop so i plan to be twittering quite a bit.
I'll try to twitter info as much as i can for the prelims and the champs the following day if anyone cares.

Always take a deck that you have had optimal seat time with. You are better off playing something you know rather than something you have never played before. Experience is key.
Its GenCon, its going to be decks to beat, mixed in with some other proven archetypes that have fallen by the wayside, with a touch of some homebrew stuff that isn't great, but good.
This decks...
My original configuration looked like this
4 Tormod's Crypt
3 Pithing Needle
2 Krosan Grip
2 Red Elemental Blast
2 Pyroblast
2 Ancient Grudge
I'm pretty high on ancient grudge, i love...
So more than likely I'm going to play a version of threshold for GenCon, but its between thrash and the 4-color counterbalance top versions.
Creatures
4 Nimble Mongoose
4 Tarmogoyf
Instants...
ya...fail
:frown:
i give up :frown:
So am I the only person that thinks the comp rules are inconsistent between these 2 cards? (dark confidant, counterbalance)
I fully understand the ruling, i just dont like it.
So the converted mana cost of fire/ice is 2 and 2....how is that not 4?
Counterbalance
Whenever an opponent plays a spell, you may reveal the top card of your library. If you do, counter that spell if it has the same converted mana cost as the revealed card.
IMHO...
I'm fully aware how the ruling works, i just think the wording makes it seem ambiguous because of the verbiage used. I don't think the words "card" and "spell" should be used interchangeably like...
It should be the same...
Confidant
At the beginning of your upkeep, reveal the top card of your library and put that card into your hand. You lose life equal to its [the cards] converted mana...
on a side note gooba i saw you were mentioned in a tourney report playing UR Landstill in vintage. I'm curious to see your list.
Probably the stock thrash list with 2 scepters in the variable slots
actually i definitely recommend the eraser over acetone
