Re: [Deck] Quinn The Eskimo- Aka, The Mighty Quinn (Snow Parfait)

I've been tinkering with a list featuring Blood Moon for more than a year now. I consider the deck a successor to my old Quinn deck (it's still top's, tutors and bullets after all), although I guess...

Re: [Deck] Quinn The Eskimo- Aka, The Mighty Quinn

Runed Halo is great, especially in the current metagame...but probably won't save you from Emrakul because of the Annihilate-trigger .

I actually slung a few games against pox with a pretty...

Re: [Deck] Quinn The Eskimo- Aka, The Mighty Quinn

I'd take out 2 painter / 2 grindstone / 2 something (depends on what emrakul-deck we're talking about) for 2 evening, 2 opalescence and 2 replenish. I would also consider to bring in Ghostly Prison...

Re: [Deck] Quinn The Eskimo- Aka, The Mighty Quinn

Concerning the alternate kill-condition-idea vs Emrakul etc: how bad would Opalescence + Enchanted Evening be? It nukes all lands in play, which will almost always mean they'll never play another...

Double checked this and you are correct. Normally I recon myself pretty good at this layer stuff, so sad face here for screwing this up :(.

Re: [Deck] Quinn The Eskimo- Aka, The Mighty Quinn

You're right about the "keeping removal in" part. Since, in general, I try to NEVER play my painter unless I'm able to combo with chant protection that turn, that part doesn't really bother me. It...

    @Antonius:
I've tested the angel-plan before and I was unimpressed. Thing is, because our deck doesn't run counterspells, it's very hard to keep her alive. Often, people don't side out their...

Re: [Deck] Quinn The Eskimo- Aka, The Mighty Quinn

So far, the only cards which might be playable in Quinn are the new Elspeth en maybe Chimeric Mass (as a Humility and WoG-proof wincondition) as far as I'm concerned. Although I doubt any of these...

Re: [Deck] Quinn The Eskimo- Aka, The Mighty Quinn

Tbh, I never found ANT to be that bad of a matchup - certainly not worse than 40-60 pre board and favorable post board. Thing is, I don't think Quinn's matchup against stormcombo will change that...

Re: [Deck] Quinn The Eskimo- Aka, The Mighty Quinn

Well, I pretty much gave my views on how to deal with Iona in this post on the previous page :). Karakas is ok, but it's really only effective against Iona, which makes it too narrow for my taste....

Re: [Deck] Quinn The Eskimo- Aka, The Mighty Quinn

I'll agree that the deck can be difficult to play - being control a format as broad as legacy always is.

@ Raye: That being said, I have to say that your matchups were far from optimal. Stax is...

Re: [Deck] Quinn The Eskimo- Aka, The Mighty Quinn

I tend to disagree. Abeyance is strong as a complement to Chant. It gets you around stuff that chant can't solve (namely QPM, EE, Deed, Gempalm Incinerator) to force through the combokill. As I've...

I think Karakas is the only realistic option, although I currently have Noetic Scales in my sideboard. Haven't been able to put the thing to good use though, since I'm not playing Quinn...

Re: [Deck] Quinn The Eskimo- Aka, The Mighty Quinn

I think one of the major upsides of the scrying sheets draw-engine that you guys forgot to mention is that it effectively doesn't use any cards slots. Top is a very good card on its own (best card in...

Well, you're playing basically the same list as I am, so it shouldn't surprise you that I thoroughly approve :). So I guess someone else with a little less bias should comment. The only think I'd...

Re: [Deck] Quinn The Eskimo- Aka, The Mighty Quinn

My experience with landstill is that it all depends on the list they're playing, and the amount of boardcontrol they play/see. For example, if they're playing a basic UWb version, then your main...

Re: [Deck] Quinn The Eskimo- Aka, The Mighty Quinn

I like the list, although I would personally never play this deck without any sort of combo-finish - it's those few extra "free wins" that really push your percentages to a level where I would feel...

Sideboard looks solid, although including a one-off Karmic Justice to fight through Staxx/Poxx/Rock-ish matches can be useful as well. What I would DEFINATELY consider is splitting your 3...

    Re: First tournament with Eskimo

It's definetely a great card, but since you can't tutor for it, you would need to devote 2-3 slots in the maindeck for it. I have trouble finding the space for that, since I consider most of the...

I would put thunderstaff in the sideboard and play an extra Runed Halo instead. Against aggro-control decks, it takes a significant part of their windconditions offline. and it's obviously superb...

    Re: First tournament with Eskimo

I guess it all depends on the situation. Against goblins, fore example, using Chant as a Time Walk is often a necessity in order to get to turn 4/5 where your WoGs/Moat/Humility/Story Circle takes...
