I've won more than one game where storm duresses me and I happened to have the teeg in hand. Also very useful vs moon stompy, most of their scary things cost 4.

This; 4c loam is a pretty meta deck, though I think the main change will be to run more deluge in the long run. Just a gut feeling.
Kessig Wolf Run can do quite the number against TNN decks, has anyone given that card a run lately?
It's always in my sideboard, partly for density of wastelands, mostly because needle/surgical tend to be brought in against us post board. Haven't been disappointed yet.
The fact that Knight can eat them makes them very interesting, and worthy of some testing for sure. There have been plenty of cases where I've felt short on lands that Knight can actually use.
Compared to other flex slot options it's effect on mana isn't bad at all; importantly, it casts Liliana. I personally have switched from it of late to run the DD combo, as DnT is down in my meta and...
Cabal Pit gives KotR a way to remove creatures, can be loamed, and importantly can kill Mother of Runes and Sanctum Prelate without fuss.
One possibility to consider is taking a stompy route with Thalias and perhaps SFM; it's something I've been mulling over the past few weeks, kinda like the Stone-Cold Junk Humans deck you'd see on...
Aside from "mulligan to knight of the reliquary", you can run COP:Red (I've done that when burn briefly surged at my lgs). Your flex land being a swamp can also help. Thalia is good in the matchup.
The point is that it is not substantially different from Loam, but can be abrupt decayed; I don't see the point in running it unless you've already maxed out on loams. As far as 3cmc cards that beat...
The omnipresence of Abrupt Decay would make me nervous of running crucible; I'd run more loams before trying that.
Punishing fire can put a lot of damage in when most other resources are spent. That said I have encountered the same problem, and volrath's does sound like a card worth trying; what would you take...
