Would the price of the card have changed much if Hatfield had gotten 2nd? It's funny that the price of the card might only have exploded because of some hardcore lucksacking on a Ponder shuffle.

I have playsets of most legacy staples and wouldn't mind if they reprinted them. It would make more people play the format, and it might even scare the speculators/hoarders away :]

Yeah, but sadly it's the best option for me because I'm from Europe. When I bought from eBay or other online stores I got very large toll fees because people often write the actual value of the cards...
Have mostly had good experiences with MtgFanatic. Their NM cards actually are NM (unlike some other online sellers who seem to think that EX/Played = NM). A couple of times I bought some playsets but...
