  1. Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard

Do you really think SCG would admit to manipulating the market if they were doing it?
  2. Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard

Duals were pretty played. The Time Walk and Ancestral Recall were pretty decent. Probably in good condition overall.
  3. Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard

Here is my testament to the rising price of Legacy staples.

This weekend at the Grand Prix, I traded 9 non-blue duals (3 Scrublands, 2 Bayou, 2 Plateau, 1 Taiga, 1 Badlands) for an Unlimited Time...
  4. Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard

Prices on duals are ridiculous now. When I bought my playset back in November 09 for $1150, I felt I was paying a bit too much. Glad I paid what I did when I did.
  5. Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard

Yeah...not like Magic Cards to make an error like that. Usually they're pretty spot-on with the rarities. I also found a picture of an uncut Uncommon sheet from Italian Legends - no Moat.

Magic Cards lists Moat as a U1.
Gatherer lists Moat as a Rare.

    Considering...
  7. Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard

Good crunching, except for one small thing you messed up.

Moat was a U1 in Legends, with 107 U1s per sheet and 7 U2s per sheet. So that's 121 uncommons per sheet. So to redo your math...

    35...
  8. Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard

Except there were no rares in Arabian Nights, Antiquities, The Dark, Fallen Empires, and Homelands. Only commons and uncommons of varying frequency (C4-C1 for commons, U3-U1 for uncommons). So while...
  9. Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard

I can't even begin to see a use for this card that would give it a price above that of Rolling Earthquake, Ravages of War, and (that ridiculuous uncommon) Loyal Retainers.

    Maybe it's like Zodiac...
  10. Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard

First off, I'm a player - not a collector. I'm all for completely abolishing the Reserved List and reprinting the staples - and I got my 40 duals, 40 fetches, Forces, Goyfs, Mox Diamonds, LEDs, etc.,...
  11. Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard

I think the thing is is that Wizards sees how popular Legacy is. Earlier this year, it surpassed Extended to become the second most played Constructed format in Magic, right behind Standard.

    The...
  12. Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard

I know this is probably a far fetched conspiracy theory (or is it?), but two recent things have caught my eye and I feel that there may be a correlation between the two.

First is the rumors of the...
  13. Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard

    I assume you're quoting StarOverPricedCity?

    $47 Average on MOTL.
  14. Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard

I own 40 duals (4x each), 4 Tarmogoyfs, 4 Force of Wills, 2 Lion's Eye Diamonds, 20x ZEN fetches, 10x ONS fetches, etc., etc.

And I wouldn't mind seeing WotC reprint stuff like duals and Forces...
  15. Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard

All of a sudden, paying $30 a Goyf a couple months back seems like a good deal instead of the extortion I thought it was at the moment.
  16. Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard

I just want to know how much longer people are going to keep up the imaginary pretense about Illusionary Mask remaining banned for financial reasons. Unlimited Masks are down to $62.95 average on...
