You're talking about a game where people will spend thousands of dollars on a small piece of cardboard.
People like what they like :)
For Legacy, one reason why German is popular is because if you want to keep your entire deck one non-English language, that pretty much limits you to German, French, or Italian because of your duals....
Yeah that's what it was used for when it was a deck in Extended.
Glad I got my playset of those years ago. That's my favorite art for BoP.
I'm curious how long those will last for. It looks like BINs in eBay are going up now too.
It doesn't bother me when prices go up due to someone buying out the supply of it.
1) There is no right to obtain cards at what is a subjective metric of reasonable prices
2) Everyone had years...
How is Pucatrade compared to Deckbox? I've been looking for a new trading site to use since MOTL is just such a pain in my ass to use.
According to the price graph on there, the paper ones did actually have a spike in mid March this year, but seem to be slowly declining now.
Standard players: the Hobos of MTG.
Hell, I don't think you even need to be Chinese. Just get access to somewhere that does better quality printing than the crap that's been coming out of China.
People are clearly willing to pay for $300 Seas?
Apologist implies that SCG has done something wrong. Those of us who buy cards from them and appreciate the SCG Open series don't believe that there's anything to apologize for.
Again, why is it a bad thing that they make money off of the tournaments? They profit from it and we benefit from having a growing Legacy scene. Seems win-win to me.
40 tournaments being a small...
I don't buy much from SCG these days, but I do recognize that if I do, I'm paying for them having what I want in stock as well as not having any issues with grading, etc.
I've had much more...
Seriously. I only just recently started using MOTL and I'm already enjoying the relief from the throngs of Standard players offering Pack Rats for your dual lands.
They've done more for Legacy in the last 3-4 years than any other entity has. Obviously, they're doing it because it benefits them but the community has grown because of it as well.
I have no...
Also don't forget that Commander is still very popular, which drives up the price of many of the Legacy staples that overlap.
I think it comes down to what Wizards wants to do with the deck. If they want to just nerf it and keep it somewhat playable, then they can ban Chord. If they want to just kill it dead, then Pod...
The Kiki Pod deck that won also ran Chord of Calling...
Either Chord or Pod will get banned, I think, although Pod getting banned nerfs only the Pod decks whereas Chord could conceivably still be...
For me, I get a lot of utility just owning cards to build almost any deck I want. Certainly, I trade / sell off my extra stuff (or if I pimp something out, dump the old stuff), but I derive much...
Yeah the whole problem moving MTG cards (really anything that's not stock) is the faster you need to dump it, the more of a loss you're likely going to take.
As others have suggested, I'd hold...
I don't have any problems with SCG raising prices and setting them how they see fit. If they can sell cards at higher prices, more power to them.
SCG has spent time and money to build their...
