    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

When he has beaten me, it's because I scoop after he has the lock in place (Trinisphere, Smokestack on 1, and Crucible). I've seen him win with Metalworker beats more often than I've seen him win...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

I've been doing alot of playtesting and tuning to try and figure out how to best improve this matchup. I started out using 2 Tangle Wire, which was solid... but I'm actually running 4 Thorn of...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

I didn't notice that interaction, that's actually pretty cool. Maybe I'll tinker around with an Arcum list after all (although I still don't think it fits in the Transmuter version, but I could be...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

[QUOTE]Hanni, I'd try arcum dagsson over forgemaster. it's on color, doesn't have the built in card disadvantage of forgemaster, is only 4 mana instead of 5, is an artificer for cavern of souls, and...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

Yep. Mechanist is much easier to cast at 3U, and he's uncounterable with Cavern naming Artificer (which happens frequently). He's an artifact for Metalworker, and he's bounceable by Transmuter (which...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

Sorry for the double post, but this is unrelated to the previous one.

I'm not sure how many people were interested in my U/b Masterworker list before, but I've done more playtesting since I posted...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

How so? Most of those decks don't swarm. Shaman deals damage without the red zone, and they usually have a fatty like Tarmogoyf or Knight of the Reliquary to swing with. Arbiter does nothing for you...

Spellskite is also reusable, and regeneration doesn't do anything against exile effects like Swords to Plowshares.

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

Dilkon, it almost sounds to me like you'd be better off playing Canadian Threshold than MUD. If you want relatively 50/50 matchups against most of the field, that's going to be your best bet. Or...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

And what else are you casting on turn 2, let alone one that is literally a must answer threat, unless the opponent wants to get buried in tempo advantage? You don't need big critters for Metalworker...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

Sorry for the double post, but I just had an interesting idea for dealing with B/G decks. The discard problem is still an issue, but even against Wasteland/Sinkhole, my list can make 2U pretty...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

How is Metalworker too slow? It's a 3cc colorless creature, and all you need to do is untap with it once to poop your hand onto the table. It's high risk high reward, but it's most certainly not...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

I think he was actually trying to say that Staff of Nin doesn't do enough for the cost.

You mentioned U/W Miracles twice. Is that normally a bad matchup for you? I'm only curious because I...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

Good, I'm glad I could help. Etherium is limited. Innovation is not.

I have a 5/3 Blue Artifact Stompy thread that I started way before the SOM block, but from what I can remember from that...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

I think the Myr's have the best synergy (with the current card pool), but that's my opinion I suppose.

I hadn't considered Urza's Incubator though, which might prove to be a crazy awesome...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

Aside from not having the vulnerability to creature removal, I'm not sure why you'd limit yourself to one creature type just for mana acceleration. Of course, I'm sure there's ways to build some...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

I cannot give a specific list, because the lists differ so much. The only fundamental similarity between all of them is resource denial. By resource denial, I mean some amount of discard, land...

Exactly how I feel regarding Lodestone.

    Just quoting myself here.

Triskelion has been superb in testing. He's a card advantage machine against most of the format just by himself, and he's...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

Sufficient doesn't mean it's the best idea. Even in a stompy versions that function off of a lower curve, Metalworker still says "Tap: Drop your entire hand on the board." For an artifact deck, he is...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

Depends on what you are going for. If you're trying to play a tempo aggro/control role, the tax can be fantastic.

In lists with no removal, a 5/3 body won't be pushing through the red zone very...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

I'd run the 4th Metalworker regardless. Sure he has his limitations, but Metalworker to this deck is like Goblin Lackey to Goblins... and I've never seen a Goblins list with 3 Lackey's.

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

If you need it to be removal right away, I suppose. Otherwise, you can just keep it a 4/4 flier for the turn it comes into play.

Usually though, when you cheat it off of a Transmuter for U, you...

That's not really a fair assessment, though. You got a broken start against a relatively non-interactive deck. Had the Transmuter been countered or hit with removal, it would have been a different...

    Re: [Deck] MUD (Metalworker)

    Forgot to respond to this:

Grim Poppet is a solid choice, but I'm thinking it's better off as a sideboard card vs those decks. Duplicant already deals with any targetable creature, and can...
