I'm a pretty big fan of Animate Dead as well. I was playing an Izzet Charm build for awhile though so I had more discard outlets. Plus, the Beta Animate Deads always look sad if I don't play them :(

I run -1 Swamp, -1 Underground Sea, +1 Badlands, +1 Volcanic Island (along with the 4x Lotus Petals) and haven't really had any mana issues with it.

Be very careful about using Chain of Vapor. If you need it to bounce a problematic permanent like Ensnaring Bridge or Humility, they can just sac a land to chain it back at your dude.

Bloodghast is something you can pitch into the yard and get out without needing a Reanimation spell. Helps against sacrifice effects too.
