I disagree. Any midrange board control deck, like Train Wreck or Enchantress, with a curve mostly higher than 3 and plenty of removal, can beat Tarmogoyf and Counterbalance, but they cant beat combo....
I agree. Storm combo is a huge design restraint, arguable more than Tarmogoyf and Counterbalance, that was overlooked. There are a number of decks that can deal with Tarmogoyf and Counterbalance but...
They're actually functionally reprinting a lot of cards. Counsel of the Soratami, Remove Soul, Benalish Trapper, even fucking Hill Giant. I hope they weren't counting these when they announced the...
Mono-red board control would play it, amirite Jack?
That doesn't seem all that simple. I'd rather they just errata all instances of lifelink, old and new, to just be lifelink. Having two versions, one triggered and one static, serves no purpose.
With an ugly M10 logo on it.
e: This probably bad for limited, but who really played limited with a core set? It's fine for Standard and Extended, where the creatures have gotten much bigger of...
While this is certainly incorrect, it's the one unbanning I would most like to see.
Question regarding the new combat rules,
From the article:
Are 'first blocker', 'second blocker', etc. identified as such in the rules? I.e. Would a card that worked only on the 'first...
Yes. (Or in play and attacking/blocking, if you must.)
No ones care about Deathtouch. Deathtouch is the example of how silly assigning combat damage is going to be. Why do I have to assign combat damage sequentially? Why can I not assign it however I...
If you unban Oath of Druids, you would have to unban Skull Clamp too. That's the only chance aggro decks would have of competing, and would still shoehorn aggro decks into running mostly low...
Convincing your opponent that you can pay negative lose, in order to gain life, as -(-X) = +X, is not very classy.
Dont you ever check your calendar?
Yes, mana burn is flavorful, but removing it is not significantly unflavorful. Magic will not become a barren shell because people stop burning for 1 off Dark Rituals. Your AK equipment is completely...
Not exactly. You just stack a ton of activations, and in resolving each one, you flip a ton of coins, regardless of whether Frenetic Efreet is still in play.
e: For reference's sake, this is a 2...
I cannot count the number of times Mongeese have gone the distance against Landstill and other control decks. Shroud is hot, and it continues to be hot.
That Pridemage eats STPs destined for...
He's a big fella.
Trygons, OK. Mongeese, NO.
If this is the wording, Brainstorm, Sylvan Library, Standstill, etc. would only give one +1/+1 counter. If that's the case, I dont see this card making the cut.
e: The way I see it, it triggers...
MTGSalvation has Meddling Mage art now. It's very very gold.
Also, a bunch of cards that will never seen play in Legacy were spoiled.
And Qasali Pridemage now has Exalted, making it a fair bit...
Although there is little evidence that Tarmogoyf is restricting deck diversity, as much as he's restricting creature diversity.
Lack of Tarmogoyf will not diversify aggro decks because aggro decks still lose to combo.
I've been here, thanks.
What I was trying to say was, when trying to change the status quo, you dont ask the status quo to defend itself. This is what I interpreted Jak as doing.
Perhaps I was...
What makes Tarmogoyf unreasonable? Sure, he's undercosted, but so are a lot of things. Where do you draw that line?
The onus is on you to show that he's unreasonable.
