    Re: Modern Post-Hogaak

Yeah, i bombed at the 1k, lost to oko twice and jund twice. It was five rounds, i dropped after r4.

Pioneer is gathering steam at the lgs, so i might just sell out of modern and dedicate those...

Re: No more Legacy on the SCG Tour

I edited my response. The question for WOTC is paper vs digital, not RL or no-RL. That's the root of the issue.

Re: No more Legacy on the SCG Tour

They just did a quasi-masters set with Modern Horizons, which included a ton of reprints for eternal formats. Call it whatever you want, they will continue to reprint eternal playable cards. Mixing...

Re: No more Legacy on the SCG Tour

If Masters sets are any sort of benchmark, reprinting eternal-playable cards is a golden goose for WOTC. If they abolish the reserved list and commit to reprinting eternal staples that were...

    Re: Modern Post-Hogaak

Uggh, Pioneer doesn't appeal to me, whatsoever, at all. Oko is causing problems in multiple formats, I'll see if it's too much to handle with Jeskai Stoneblade tomorrow at the 1K.

Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

I have been trying to make Vantress Gargoyle work, and it works fine when paired with Ponder instead of Standstill (which I think you agree with based on this statement.) However...counting on your...

    Re: Contaminated Stockpile

Entomb is faster and more flexible, but is much less powerful. Both cost you a card, one nets you a 2 card advantage (3 Bloodghasts) the other nets you only a 1-for-1 (1 Bloodghast/Cabal...

Re: No more Legacy on the SCG Tour

That's a good point, one I missed. I think this is another thing that they can't control, honestly. Didn't Commander start as a grass-roots format among players a long time before WOTC...

    Re: Jeskai Stoneblade

Modern 1K this weekend, taking my list from the OP. I got 9th in the last tournament, hoping to get into t8 this time around. Not a lot of change, just some cosmetic changes and Brazen Borrower x2 in...

    Re: Modern Post-Hogaak

Here is the DTB section for October:

    https://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=23489&f=MO

Burn is king ATM alongside the Urza-Oko abomination. Tron, Jund, and Shadow make up a grindy tier 2 while blue...

Re: No more Legacy on the SCG Tour

Just a notion I had, which might have already been obvious to others, but here goes:

WOTC can't control the supply of legacy RL cards, they only have power to affect demand. Recently what they...

Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

BTW, I've been catching you on ELD games YouTube videos lately. Pretty cool how you dismantled a storm player 2-0 recently, really displaying the power level of Scroll of Fate even without...

    Re: [Deck] Turbo Depths

DNSolver went onto the Leaving a Legacy podcast to talk about his list that won the LAL Open. He goes to great depths (pun intended) to describe how he came up with his list.

Re: No more Legacy on the SCG Tour

I read the article, and I have a couple questions folks here might be able to help me answer.

    1) It appears that even if a lawsuit (class action?) happened against WOTC and it's found to violate...

Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

We don't even have to get to PW's, it competes with Scroll of Fate at 3 mana.

    Re: Contaminated Stockpile

Some cards that could be good here:

    Zealous Persecution
    Tidehollow Sculler
    Buried Alive

I think ZP is likely better than Intangible Virtue (but I do see the ETutors which make it more...

    Re: Death-Nought

I ended up dropping the LDV idea, it was just too conditional to be good. I worked in a couple of Hymns into the maindeck, which should be quite good as discard #5-6.

    I'm testing it out a...

    Re: [Primer] UB Death's Shadow

I would be playing Stifle + Dreadnought. I don't know if that is a strong enough reason to play Vault yet, but it has synergy with Death's Shadow by being a customizable life-loss tool while setting...

Re: New Format announced - Pioneer

Modern had the same feel as Pioneer does now, and that didn't push out Legacy. It did have a significant impact on potential growth for Legacy, but the format survived. Pioneer doesn't pull on Legacy...

    Re: [Primer] UB Death's Shadow

I'm not sure if this card has been discussed in the thread yet, but I was thinking about how Shadow can be a quasi-combo deck on occasion so I started researching tutor effects to support that end...

Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

I don't think storm is a good reason to use Etruth; you have maindeck stifle, force, and thoughtseize. I think your storm matchup is fine. I like Ratchet Bomb or Engineered Explosives in that slot.

Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

I would no longer call it a tempo deck (notice I also cut Dazes...) At this point, it's more of a combo/tempo deck. It can play a tempo plan but it's also very focused on getting a big threat that...

    Re: Death-Nought

Because this is a combo deck (essentially) along with the fact that I've cut Daze, I am looking at these cards as well:

    Lim-Dul's Vault
    Rite of Consumption
    Collective Brutality

    If I end up...
