I think Verdict might be a bit of stretch with only 18 land and it's the type of card that, when you need it, you can't afford to wait for it. I also think a full range sweeper might hamper your own...

While it doesn't have synergy with Delver, I find Engineered Explosives to be the best sweeper against Merfolk. EE on 2 hits the majority of their threats and blows up any Spreading Seas that might...
