  1. Re: Blood Moon really should be colorshifted to Green

I think it would be a lot less effective than you think.

Red can't destroy enchantments, green can. If it ever became a serious force in the Meta the 3 color decks could just throw 2-3 Naturalize...
  2. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

If you want late game counterspells, why not just run counterspells. They have a shot at not being dead early.

I think you are going to end up with a lot more force spikes than counterspells.

    Re: [Deck] Faerie Stompy

Stuff gets countered/killed, and it could always try and squeeze a couple fetch for more GY filler.

    Re: [Deck] Faerie Stompy

Wouldn't Treasure Cruise be really good in this deck? Even if the deck can't fill its GY as quickly as a more cantrippy deck, it can cast the Cruise for 3-4 pretty easily, and burns through enough...
  5. Re: [DTB] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

I haven't been able to play since TC became legal, but I figured I would throw a couple of theory crafting ideas out there on how to deal with it:

To me, what makes RUG, RUG, more than anything...
  6. Re: [DTB] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

I run 2 TNN out of the board, it seemed pretty solid, but I also don't get to play a ton anymore.

To me the thing you need to be careful about is not to get locked into your colors, as much as...
  7. Re: [Deck] Canadian Thresh (a.k.a. RUG Tempo, Tempo Thresh)

If you read how the DTB thread is calculated, it makes more sense why it was removed.

If it was strength of deck alone, RUG should never leave DTB, it's always going to have decent MU against the...
  8. Re: [Deck] Canadian Thresh (a.k.a. RUG Tempo, Tempo Thresh)

If I understand the math behind the DTB, if the cuttoff had remained at 3.4% instead of increasing to 4.6%, it would have still been a dtb.

However, the fact that it was knocked out of even the...
  9. Re: [DTB] Canadian Thresh (a.k.a. RUG Tempo, Tempo Thresh)

I guess I kinda got pulled off track, i'm not really advocating for the use of ancient grudge in the md. I'm saying I would use spell pierce over spell snare.
  10. Re: [DTB] Canadian Thresh (a.k.a. RUG Tempo, Tempo Thresh)

I'm just saying, I would consider grudge main before I would consider spell snare to shore up a sfm mu. There is starting to be a solid number of high impact, important targets with so many decks...
  11. Re: [DTB] Canadian Thresh (a.k.a. RUG Tempo, Tempo Thresh)

My problem with spell snare isn't a lack of targets. It's not going to sit in your hand forever with no viable targets forever. My problem with spell snare is that the only 2 cards/plays that it is...
  12. Re: [DTB] Canadian Thresh (a.k.a. RUG Tempo, Tempo Thresh)

Remember to copy insectile aberration, not delver. Cloned delvers don't flip.
  13. Re: [DTB] Canadian Thresh (a.k.a. RUG Tempo, Tempo Thresh)

They might have a plan for mana denial strategies, but so does everyone. Looking back over the last couple years, RUG has been consistently in the top 3 most played/successful archetypes, and...
  14. Re: [DTB] Canadian Thresh (a.k.a. RUG Tempo, Tempo Thresh)

    @BKclassic

I could see that logic for taking out geese before tarmogoyf's I guess.

I just don't get how spell snare makes you better able to fight a TNN. RUG has dealt with SFM for years, but...
  15. Re: [DTB] Canadian Thresh (a.k.a. RUG Tempo, Tempo Thresh)

It seems like the problem with ensare would be that you basically need to be in a situation where you are going to make a lethal attack very soon after resolving it. In the case of batterskull, that...
  16. Re: [DTB] Canadian Thresh (a.k.a. RUG Tempo, Tempo Thresh)

    @BKclassic

Why cut mongeese before tarmogoyfs? To me it seems like Mongeese untargetability is more important than ever against the TNN decks that are using either swords or abrupt decay. Goyf...
  17. Re: [DTB] Canadian Thresh (a.k.a. RUG Tempo, Tempo Thresh)

I was hesitant about probe, but now I love it. It opens up a thousand subtle lines of play. The most powerful being, Fetch, Probe decide to hold up stifle or jam delver. Which when done blind, can...
  18. Re: [DTB] Canadian Thresh (a.k.a. RUG Tempo, Tempo Thresh)

Mongeese probably aren't ideal, but I like them better than tarmogoyfs for the casting cost alone. Most of the time I think you really only need to bring in 4-6 cards at most. I think the most I...
  19. Re: [DTB] Canadian Thresh (a.k.a. RUG Tempo, Tempo Thresh)

For me the decision to keep in bolts doesn't depend on xantid swarm at all. To me, keeping in bolts is usually the go to plan. I usually like to take out 2-4 Tarmogoyfs before I start to take out...
  20. Re: [DTB] Canadian Thresh (a.k.a. RUG Tempo, Tempo Thresh)

Has anyone posted a detailed sb plan for each of the decks to beat recently?

I'm curious what people take out against different decks, and if people change on the play vs the draw.

    I'm kinda...

I did go on to say that it wasn't a statistically different, and is only something to thing about in game if you were in super tryhard mode.

    Re: [DTB] GW/x Maverick

A lot of people in my meta play a GWB knight decks, i'm not entirely sure how you destinguish between GW/b mav and Junk.

But I never really got the appeal of the black splash.

    Bob is a great...
  23. Re: [DTB] Canadian Thresh (a.k.a. RUG Tempo, Tempo Thresh)

I don't know, I still question libraries effectiveness.

So often it seems like we already have amazing control over the top of our library through delver triggers, fetch lands, ponder, and...

    Re: [DTB] Goblins

If anything, what he is saying is that Fetch lands and matron shuffles make the 2nd 3rd and 4th ringleaders worse.

I think instead of going into detail about shuffling, you could look at it this...
  25. Re: [DTB] Canadian Thresh (a.k.a. RUG Tempo, Tempo Thresh)

I don't get how it helps against combo. Rule number 1 against combo - don't tap out. I often bring a couple goyf's out against combo for being too mana intensive, and I never want to see more than...
