I'm not sure if Shackles would be superior to Threads. Just because it is more "flexible".
Random Grunt means 2-3 Grunts in board?
There is actually a combination of Countertop and these cards. This year's Legacy Champs featured two UGb-Countertops that even made top8. And I think that both decks are pretty interesting.

jitte is a debatable slot. and it is definitely not used to speed up a clock. it's just another way to win against aggro.
coatl might be not targetable by spell snare, but clique, too, is not...
i like rhox a lot. but i have to admit that i play in a very aggro-oriented meta.
regarding coatl: i also think that clique is a far better option than coatl. coatl just doesnt do anything...
quasali pridemage in predator slot. try dryad arbor instead of the second forest. good for a lot of tricks and natural order creature.
helps for example to protect your progenitus from edicts.

I tend to play jitte too. because in a highly aggro meta i like to have more removals...
to be honest: jitte is obligatory in a lot of metas, so recent lists are in my opinion tuned for a certain...
