2 out of those 3 are subpar matchups for counterbalance decks.

i would say the banning of mystical tutor hurts...

you can beat lands w/ CB, in fact, they cant win if you get a 2 drop on top.
that deck just sits there once it cannot cast life from loam.
granted, you just need more threats out than they got...

Playing Counterbalance when the meta is filled w/ Merfolk and Gobos is a mistake.
You should not play any variation of this deck in that meta.

ive had 1 main deck echoing truth before, its pretty hawt.

if your meta has a lot of merfolk & goblins, i am afraid to tell you but cbtop is not the deck to play... i dont like playing bad matchups all the time.

im pretty sure id rather play either EE or Llawan as I imagine Firespout are there cuz of merfolk.

is the player terrible?
they usually just get a matron/ringleader and a firespout is not game ending.
if you get to actually swing w/ the RWM - you should...

Goblins is also no walk in the park... they just Stingscourge/Wasteland you and Aether vial makes Counterbalance suck most of the time.
I pretty much stopped playing this deck because beating...

vs the rock - your goal is to get as many 3 drops into your deck post board as possible and land a cb/top early. only force/daze/counter the deed before u get cbtop online, you can deal w/ the rest...

erbs, try the supreme blue in that meta, should be better.

if your meta is heavy merfolk/goblins, the right call is to play zoo, not counterbalance. just my opinion.

the firespout one is only relevant if there is a lot of zoo...
its not as good vs goblins/merfolk as they deny you mana/counter your spells.

the deck is not dead by a long shot.

playing walls is just counterproductive in legacy, they don't help you win...
its not like you need to force aggro to overextend into a wrath/sweeper... they are going to do it to you regardless.....

got my bunghole gaped this weekend by goblins and merfolk running the japanese list. -2 trygon +2 shackles main.

granted they all had the nuts hands vs me in all 4 games..
merfolk gm1 - 2...

thats what i did -2 trygon +2 shackles.

merfolk is not that bad as long as they dont get aether vial down, its a fair match.
obviously you can blow them out also if they have LoA and you have a goyf, they swing, you StP LoA before...

man that coverage was the best ive ever seen on the web.. kudos to the japanese production crew.
