Being better than, and being strictly better than, are not the same thing.
That card seems sweet. Deals with Marit Lage and Gurmag Angler with the bounce, or kills most things. Seems pretty versatile, and I could definitely see it finding a spot in some sideboards.
Huh? The cost in the picture is 1UU...?
Doesn't defend itself, sure, but a deck like Miracles or Grixis Control has more than enough ways to protect their Planeswalkers.
Card also seems pretty...
Holy shit. It's Leovold on a mono blue Planeswalker with an activated ability of a flipped Azcanta? I'd say that's a pretty insane card that will absolutely see Legacy play.
Seems worse than the standard Necrotic Ooze combo with Phyrexian Devourer and Triskelion.
This is definitely the highest power level set that we've had in a while. Multiple Legacy playables plus a ton of cool fringe stuff that might see some play.
Sinking Feeling was the closest I found to turning this into an engine. Unfortunately, it doesn't go infinite because it costs 1 to activate.
Might also be decent in Burn as a 3 mana flashback Lightning Bolt and Lava Spike to deal 6 to an opponent. Probably just worse than their existing 3 mana options like Risk Factor, though.
4 mana for Gideon + 4 mana to copy + 3 mana for Displacer + 3 mana to Flicker, so that you can pop out +1/+1 emblems? Meh.
The fact that it can copy a legendary but won't be legendary itself is a very interesting effect. I'm curious if there is some sort of way to abuse that part.
Worldspine Wurm is most likely an instant kill too, except it's actually good on it's own off of a Sneak or Through the Breach, whereas Master of Cruelties is crap without Ilharg.
EDIT: Actually,...
On second thought, maybe Big Red would like this card?
The benefit to this would be postboard, after the opponent has cut their removal. It dodges Flusterstorm, Spell Pierce, Pithing Needle, etc. Doubtful that it's better than Arcane Artisan, but still.
Maybe it would work in Modern, but it's a five mana green instant. Even in Nic Fit, I'm not sure why this would be Legacy playable.
Seems pretty good against Miracles. Being blue means it eats it to red blasts, though.
Might be a card for Buried Phoenix?
The card itself is definitely cool, I was only commenting on the fact that trying to go infinite with two Fork's was a really bad combo.
It still has value by letting you copy a spell, and since...
Requiring the opponent to cast a spell after you activate Ral is pointless. You might catch a few people at first, but once people know what's going on, no one is going to cast a spell after the...
I guess I didn't really work it out in my head... I was thinking you could use the Planeswalker's -2, but that doesn't actually work because it's sorcery speed. You would need to activate it in...
You would only need to cast one Fork for this to work, correct?
(Assuming obviously that there is a spell on the stack which can be Fork'd...)
Oh, you thought it was any instant/sorcery that targets a creature? lol... that would have absolutely been Legacy playable if that was the case. Borderline OP, actually.
This card seems pretty powerful within the set itself (i.e Standard or Limited), as there are tons of instants/sorceries that target your own creatures. Defiant Strike, for example.
I'm pretty sure they meant Skyshroud Cutter.
Not every Big Eldrazi variation is going to want these cards; some builds may not use any of them. That doesn't mean that they won't still benefit from the new tools indirectly.
New Karn is more...
Big Eldrazi is already a pretty good deck. It might not be getting played enough right now to make huge waves, but it is certainly a powerful strategy.
Printing more powerful cards that are lower...
