    Re: [DTB] GW/x Maverick

What if you actually want to draw the one.

Why do people want so bad to run random lucky one ofs they have no way to tutor for. It's like a goddamn neurosis.

    Re: [DTB] GW/x Maverick

How often has it been the case that you have had an Elspeth, Knight-Errant in play and been, "Oh, gee, now I'm going to lose because this card I have in hand is a duplicate of the incredibly powerful...

Yeah, Sylvan Safekeeper seems reasonable. You can tutor for it and it has strong interactions with Wayfarer and Knight.

Why Birds over Hierarch though? Also what do you use Cradle for?

Deathrite, assuming you're going black, gives you reach, powerful cards like discard, Abrupt Decay and possibly Lilliana, and requires you to cut slots so you're basically not just running the same...

Equipment is good against board-control decks (except maybe Deed-based ones,) because equipment makes each creature a massive threat, allowing you to slow-roll your threats and negating the power of...

    Re: [DTB] GW/x Maverick

Maze of Ith alone makes it a very good matchup.

Paying four or seven (!!!) mana for a creature that can be StP'd is miserable. Seriously, people, try Parallax Wave, it does everything you...

2x Sylvan Library should be a minimum if you want to actually win games consistently. I notice this thing where tournament winning reports, even if they're running only one Library, always include...

He's harder to kill because he has a bigger body. He doesn't really care about red removal or Jitte, for instance.

    Re: [DTB] GW/x Maverick

Maze of Ith is a silver bullet for 50% of the decks in the field. Gaddock Teeg is a silver bullet for 5% of the decks in the field. I think one's a lot easier to justify than the other, although...

    Re: [DTB] GW/x Maverick

It seems amazing to me that anyone would call Aven Mindcensor undercosted. He costs three mana. Three! If they spend one (or less) mana to kill it, that's an incredibly huge tempo swing. Knight is...

I dunno, I'd rather run Jace myself. Also before people talk about how Thalia has suddenly made the deck amazing, keep in mind that only about half of the lists (at least from what I've seen) that...

I know that people in this thread are unreasonably afraid of drawing and resolving amazingly powerful permanents and having a backup copy in hand, but are these lists really so tight that people...

I am assuming it was a mistype. Batterskull's probably the first card that should come out against Elves.

    Re: [DTB] GW/x Maverick

Yes, but if they have a Pridemage on board it should be one of your Wave targets. Pridemage is therefore only effective against Wave if it's dropped after the Wave. In which case you still got a lot...

Gavony Township actually seems like it might be incredibly powerful in the mirror.

Garruk Relentless otoh has been crap every time I tested it or saw it in action. I have never actually seen it...

Also what does this even mean? "Too cute, remember that there's a lot of powerful tricks it can pull off."

    Re: [DTB] GW/x Maverick

People legitimately need to test Parallax Wave. I know everyone loves their new cards and mythic rares, but Wave does all this and more if that's all you're running Fauna Shaman for.

The thing is that the format is increasingly run by 1-2 toughness creatures and full of blockers. It's difficult to think of times where a Jitte is significantly worse than a relevant Sword in most...

    Re: [DTB] GW/x Maverick

SFM is a good card, but it's also slot and mana intensive. Throwing in 2-3 Jitte instead lets you free up slots while paying less mana; with that you can bump the number of Elspeths or other powerful...
